I've definitly started watching shows for the clips that I find most often in vids and see what they originally looked like compared to how the vidder has changed/edited them. And started listening to songs wondering if they could be used for a vid.

Also, I've been paying attention to what's being said in various livejournals as well as on mailing lists to pick up tips and see what pitfalls to avoid.
