Collected Thoughts

Looks around So! My first LJ entry here. I jumped on the bandwagon. I can't really say what I'm going to end up writing here but probably not very pesonal stuff. Mostly about what's going on with my writing and general observations. Plus I have a compulision to write my thoughts down.

As a side note--I hate TRUTH ads, really, they make me want to start smoking.

Okay so I guess I'm going to jump on a little late and add my two cents in about the whole Clark and Lex is only ever going to be subtext issue. It's only ever going to be subtext. No, really I have more. People should realize it is only going to be subtext because Superman is--what? 50, 60 yrs old? He's been around for ever, there have been Superman tv shows since the black and white days. A lot of people grew up with Superman and a lot of those people are never going to be comfortable with homosexuality in general, much less their hero Superman, being gay.

Then there's Lex and Clark as lovers. First, Clark, no matter what Tom Welling looks like, is supposed to be 15 or so years old. Lex is 21 yrs old. Lex is an adult, Clark is a kid. There is no way a show on Network tv is going to show an relationship where there is a minor and adult involved and it's shown in a positive light. Sure you can say "well Clark is really an alien" but that's not going to fly.

Besides watching the variations of what those looks and glances mean is interesting, to me more interesting than if the show spelled it out.

At the end of the "Jitters" when Lex is being hugged by Lionel for the cameras and Clark is being smothered by affection by his parents Lex has this longing look on his face. That can be read several ways: Lex wanting Clark or Lex wanting to have a family and the love that Clark has, or whatever. I Watched it and thought "poor Lex, he so wants a family to belong to and parents that love him". Of course other people got the slashy vibe off that look. To me it's more fun putting the speculation in the relationship.
