I had the yummiest lunch. Although I dirtied all the dishes I just washed and then some.
I tried the Broiled Mushrooms over Polenta again. This is the first time I've really gotten polenta right. It was so good -- I used a full teaspoon of salt and then added Italian seasoning to it, not a lot just a little. Plus yellow corn meal insteadof the white I used last time (which was all I had on hand). I still need more mushrooms, but this time instead of dicing them I quartered them and added thyme and marjarom in the mushrooms instead of on top. Plus there was cheese.
Then I tred Spinach and Black Eyed Peas. I used canned peas so they were kind of salty even though I rinsed them. I used frozen leaf spinach and had trouble getting it separated after I squeezed all the water out. Next time I'm goign to try it with frozen turnip greens. I added lots of pepper and a hit of red pepper flakes.
Yummy filling, and the kitchen was nice and warm from having 3 burners going and the broiler.
Next on today's agenda -- getting my car back from the shop. I needed new brake pads and rotors, but the pads weren't all the way worn out and it could have been worse.
Then there's FOOTBALL! And HOCKEY!! Only going to the football game as there is no hockey here. I need to pick up a blank tape so I can tape the game. I know my parents think I'm weird, espcially since I haven't labelled any of them yet. But in the hot summer months I'm going to want hockey. Also, I wasn't always watching the intermission stuff and I missed most of the guys being mic'd up. I love that they are doing that, both sunshine and Oln.
Mom watched some of it but she said she couldn't see any strategy. Actually I need to pay attention to the intermission because they break down goals and stuff. I tried to explain some stuff, especially why the Caps pulled their goalie. Since Tampa got an empty net goal she couldn't understand why anyone would do that. I tried to explain that with an extra man on the ice it's usually easier to keep the puck near the net and increases chances of a goal. But it's a risk.
