I just discovered my freezer door has been open for ... I have no idea how long. I haven't eaten at home in a few days, I've been doing family stuff.

Actually I think the freezer door has been slightly open for a week. Not far open, but just a crack. Everything is melted and gross in there. I think it was barely open and the stuff melted and slid down and pushed it further open.

I moved something around and closed it. There was a bunch fo stuff in there and I'm going to leave it in there until the night before trash pick up.

You may have to put it out in portions. My mom's chest freezer defrosted when she knocked the plug out with the broom, sweeping. The garbage people would only take one bag at a time. We kept the rest of it frozen until pickup morning for three weeks, and finally wound up taking it to the landfill ourselves.

I'm so sorry. It's such a mess, and I felt like such a doofus for letting it happen.

It's the freeze that's part of the fridge so it wasn't that much stuff. At least it didn't SEEM like htat much stuff until I was dragging the huge giant garbage bag out to the trash. It fit in the container. And my freezer is 100% empty.

Trash comes again on Friday and I'm going to clean out the fridge then and just start over.
