Thoughts and squeeing over SPN Hunted
Thoughts under the cut
FLIAL!!! SQUEEEE@!!!!!!!
Okay, now that's out of the way I can go on. I bought S1 for myself and caught up on s2 just in time for last night's episode. I'd seen a couple episodes IRL time before, but mostly I was flipping between SPN and hockey (Thursday being hockey night ---and I ended up missing a really good game against the Caps, I forgot to record it when I was recording SPN), but this is the first time I've watched the show with intent and knowledge.
Poor Dean. Having to carry that burden around and then there's no real relief in telling Sam the secret. Dean's got to be carrying around his biggest nightmare -- being forced to kill Sammy. I can't imagine it ever getting to that point, although I'd love to see what JA would do with that scene. He really does a fantastic job of portraying Dean's vulnerability. I'm glad he didn't get the role of Sam because he's so perfect as Dean.
I liked Ava, but I'm not sure what to think at the end, which I suppose is the point. I see the choices as either Ava was demon possessed the whole time, had pre cog of what Gordon was going to do and so warned Sam to save him because the Yellow Eyed demon needs Sam for something else. Or Ava was an innocent and the yellow eyed demon (or his spawn) didn't take over Ava until after she got back home and killed her boyfriend for sport. Or maybe as some sort of super phone call thing.
I really dislike Gordon, the actor does a good job of making me hate the character and wanting to see him taken out (although not by Sam). I do think that Gordon wants Dean to like him, that Gordon admired John and now Dean and thinks they are cut from the same cloth. And they aren't at all. The perfect example is the demon possessed girl and Meg. Dean and Sam didn't know Meg was still there and innocent and when they realized they treated her differently. They wouldn't have tortured her because it's wrong to do that to the human trapped inside. Gordon doesn't care becaue the demon is more important to him.
LOVED LOVED Sam's solution. I was torn between wanting Gordon dead for trying to kill Sammy but not wanting Sam or Dean to kill him. I had no idea waht the solution would be and it was creative. And the look on Dean's face at the explosions. Then Sammy beating down Gordon and saying "It's Sam!" It was definitly a Hell yeah moment! Going back to Gordon, it seemed like he really thought that if he excised (what he saw as) the cancer of demon possessed Sammy then Dean would be better and stronger. I think him calling Sam Sammy was partly to get under Sam's nerves but part of the identifying with Dean and wanting to be closer to Dean.
The solution wasn't a permanent one for Gordon and I'm hoping to see him come to a bloody end at some point. That sounds bad. I really don't like him, but again I don't want sam to kill him -- maybe if Ellen did. I think I'd like that.
