1. How do you experience music?
If it's just on the radio it's just background noise that I tune out because I hate silence. But at live shows or at a club I feel music through my whole body. It starts in my chest where I can feel the bass/drum and radiates outward, through my arms and fingertips, radiating out of me. I either dance to it or close my eyes and let myself get carried away by the sensation. I probably look stupid, but it's a great way to feel the music.
Do you experience different genres of music differently?
Yep. Lots of music makes me want to get up and dance, especially Latin music. Then there are the songs where I just want to sit and think about the words and what the song is saying. Classical music lets me daydream.
Are you ever compelled to dance?
All the time. I get a complusion to move to the music and do it. Even if I'm just standing in one place or sitting in the car and grooving. I'm learning several Latin/Ballroom dances...the more dancing the better.
2. Do you dream in color?
Yes, although it's usally night when I dream.
Is there sound?
You know, I don't know. I think there is sound but sometimes it seems like there is, but sometimes all the conversations seem telepathic.
Other sensations?
Occasionally I'll dream of physical sensations, a hand on my arm, a body next to me, something like that. Mostly my dreams revolve around emotional situations. Quite often I wake up feeling whatever emotion I last experienced in my dream---happy, sad, scared.
Are there places you often return to in your dreams, and if so, are they real places?
I used to have "rerun" dreams all the time when I was a little girl. I had them so often I can even remember them now, most were variations on nightmares. Sometimes there are real places in my dream--I'll dream I'm in my house or someplace like that.
If real places, do the dream real places look like their counterparts in reality?
They look similiar to what is reality, but there is always something altered.
3. Did you go to college? Was it a formative experience for you, or not? Are you still in touch with college friends? How did college shape your world view?
I've been to two colleges, didn't finish at either of them. I'm not in touch with anyone I went to college with, but then I didn't make a lot of friends. I suppose the experiences were formative because they've allowed me to make several realizations about myself now that I didn't understand then. But nothing life changing really happened IN college. Well, I did meet my first serious boyfriend at community college.
4. Have you ever considered graduate school? If so, why? If you've already been to graduate school, do you feel it helped or harmed you? In what ways? Why did you choose the specialty you chose?
Nope. I doubt I'll ever make it to grad school.
5. Have you moved great distances in your life, or always lived in the same area?
I wasn't born here, but I've lived in the same town since I was two. Except for the 1 1/2-2 yrs I lived in a neighboring town for college, but that town was an hour away. So I've never lived outside this area.
Do you live near any family members? How do you feel about that?
Currently living with Dad, Mom lives here too I see her all the time. Much of my Dad's family lives in the area so I see them on a semi regular basis, but not as often as someone might think. My brother lives several states away with a busy life so I only see him twice a year or so.
