(no subject) [Collected Thoughts]

Finally got my Wes story to my beta. It's a sucky first draft, written mostly when I've felt bad, so it needs major work.

Found out Season 1 of Due South will be coming out on DVD, in Canada only so it will have to be ordered from the US. But--Due South on DVD!!! Now if Homicide would come out on DVD I'd be a happy camper.

I've felt like I was steamrolled, haven't been able to do anything...no dancing, nothing. My back hurts I can't find Thermapatch thingies anywhere. I'd sell my soul for some of those right now. Plus I'm due to have PMS soon. Whee.

This wasn't really fannish, I may have squicked some people. Deal with it, it's my journal.

Fannish stuff--present tense is a tool, sometimes it's used well, sometimes it's used badly. There are plenty of GodAwful stories written in past tense, just because a story is written in present tense doesn't make it bad. Or great. Same thing goes for any tense used...the tense doesn't determine if the story sucks or not but the quality of the writing.

It probably does suck if you don't like to read present tense, but Smallville is still a young fandom---there's only been one season---and I'm sure that as the fandom ages that there will be a bigger variety of stories. Or maybe not. I'm not really an expert.

A Wes story. A Wes story! Watch me bounce with glee. Can't wait until it's beta-ed and posted. Dont' agonize too much over the state of hte fandom. At my workplace there's a big sign saying, "Relax, it's only advertising" I really need to get an electronic banner or something that says "Relax, it's only fandom" when everybody's getting really passionate and serious. It's supposed to be fun, damnit.

P.S. You pretty much summed up this whole present tense thing. I don't get it, I honestly don't. A good fic in present tense is good, a bad fic is bad. Same with past. What's all hte kerfuffle about?
