Telemarketing is weird. I don't understand it. I was at Mom's dropping something off and hanging out a bit when she gets a phone call. I hear her say "Uh, yes she's here." And hand the phone to me and all I'm thinking is "who the hell is calling me HERE...who knows me that knows her number" so I get on the phone and identify myself and I hear...

"I'm calling from the National Rifle Association."

I cut the woman off with

The National RIFLE Association? Why are you calling me?"

The lady tells me that my name and number have been selected as someone who is interested in...and I cut her off again.

"How did you get my number?"
She tells me that the computers select names and numbers of people who have shown an interest in hunting, firearms, and something else. But that doesn't tell me where she got my name and the wrong phone number from. All she can tell me is that she got the number from her computer.

"Yeah, well I don't know why you have my number since I don't own a gu, I don't hunt, and I'm against the NRA."

She was very polite and got off the phone.

But why the hell is the NRA calling me at 8 pm?

In Non telemarketing news. While I Was at Mom's she had the King of Queens on and so I was watching it. The husband and wife are having a fight over the wife's new friend at work (a gay man) evidentally the wife and her friend Curt have been doing a lot of stuff together and the husband is jealous. His wife informs him that everything he just complained about her doing he does with his friend Deacon. She refers to Deacon as her husband's "Work wife".

So the next seen is the husband in the locker room (he works for a UPS like company) and Deacon walks in and the husband starts staring at Deacon in this very...the way you'd look at a crush. And then he flashes back to all the things he likes about Deacon...and there's romantic music and the montage ends with the guy and Deacon playing catch..then the guy tackles Deacon and they ROLL AROUND ON THE GROUND! The show is obviously spoofing the sappy montages that show the happy couples running toward each other in a field of daisies but still---it was SLASH! And the husband breaks out of his daydreaming and Deacon asks him if they are goign to go to a movie and the husband says "wouldn't miss it" in sort of quiet but tight voice.

While I was watching this I was laughing so hard I nearly fell down. I wanted to tell Mom "that's SLASH! RIght there!!!" But I didn't and she changed the channel so I left. The episode was slashier than last week's Smallville and I kept thinking "He's going to leave her for Deacon!" Which of course he wouldn't.

And then I wondered if there was any King of Queens slash, which is sad.
