I mean, it's one thing to face it and think "Well, duh! Of course Buffy can kick ass and kill the bad things." (IIRC, she wasn't in the loop totally for Ap. Mark 1: Buffy vs. The Master, so she's basically been through two of the things, one that remained "vague threat unless Buffy kills Boyfriend" and "All Hell Breaks Loose at Graduation."
I think both of those times, she had faith in the Little People coming to the rescue. This time, however, feeling it deep down in her bones, it seems more real, and more likely to prompt the same "fuck it" response that had her macking on Xander in the basement in the first place.
Because she's attracted. Squicked, but attracted. And there's fire raining from the sky, and she's pretty certain it's miracle mile time. So, yeah. In her place?
I'd take a chance with the PYT.
