Thanksgiving was eventful this year.

Mom got bronchitis. And spent most of the time in OK in the backroom of G'ma's hiding from everyone trying to make sure she didn't infect anyone. Of course she didn't realize she was sick until Thursday AFTERNOON, after we'd done all the cooking. So really, by then, too late. She'd touched all the food. She thought it was just her sinsuses, G'ma keeps it unbearably hot in her house, because she can't remember what month it is and doesn't always wear the right type of clothes. And instead of putting on a sweater or a jacket she just turns up the heat.

My Aunt J bought a 22 lb turkey. For 8 people, 2 of those are vegetarians. She figured it was okay since Saturday we were having a party for G'ma and everyone could have Turkey sandwiches. There were about 15 people on Saturday, about 12 ate. There was still plenty of turkey when we left G'ma's house on Monday. I never want to see another piece of turkey EVER. For Thanksgiving that was like 3 lbs of turkey per person. Why? We did not lack for food. Thanksgiving was nice though, we cooked like crazy, ate, plopped in front of the tv (I think) and then didn't do much.

Friday some of my cousins came over. Saw them. Sat. party for G'ma. Sunday napping and shopping.Monday up to OKC to see more cousins and spend the night because the plane left at 6:30. It's almost 2 hrs from the town we were at to OKC. Originally we were going to drive to OKC this morning. Then Mom said "no we'll go up Monday night and get a hotel room". Aunt J tried to talk us out of that because "you won't get any sleep if you are in a hotel". The choices were: leave the town at 3:00 am (which means getting up around 2 am) OR drive up the night before and get a hotel with a shuttle to the airport.

Now which sounds like you'd get more sleep? But my uncle nullified that by offering to let us sleep at his place.

G'ma did well when there weren't tons and tons of people around. My 3 1/2 week old baby cousin is adorable. I am SO SO glad to be home, in the land of trees and hills and out of that flat barren looking land.

Not to mention able to read slash, and fandom things and be around people who think like me. Okay everyone like that is online, but I didn't have a computer so it's the prinicipal of the thing.

And I found out that my cousin and her husband (well one of my cousins) stopped watching ER when "the lesbian storyline started". So on the one side I have the Southern Baptist fire and brimstone conservatives and on the otherside I have the Midwestern with a sense of humor Conservatives.

Which really makes me wonder how the hell I turned out like I did. Because personality wise I'm still trying to figure out which of my relatives I'm like.
Sounds: VAST
Feeeelings: Relieved to be home

Figuring out who you're like is always an exercise in frustration, and tends to lead to the strong belief that you were a changeling dropped on the doorstep. Either that or a mixup at the hospital.

So, did you tell the ER-boycotting cousin and husband that, "Hey, well, *I* write gay porn. Whaddya think about that?" Would've livened up the weekend but good.
