Now that I've come down from my I've SEEN TTT high!!! I can talk about it coherently.

God it's fantastic.

And Sam the Brave. He's always been my favorite character and Peter Jackson hasn't failed me yet. Sam, always looking after Mr. Frodo and making sure he's safe.

One thing that annoyed the hell out of me about the audience I was their reaction to Gollum/Smeagol. Yeah, okay, he was played for laughs. But when you get to the fight between Smeagol and Gollum for dominance there was laughter through that and it didn't really stop and turn to understanding or realization. I don't think some people GOT what was going on with the character. And it was distracting because while some of it was, yeah, a bit funny, it was also sad and pitiful and then I wanted to cheer when Smeagol won. Because it's Smeagol.

And the rabbits.

How fucking awesome is the CGI though? When Smeagol is being held in Gondor, with his back turned and the struggle between Gollum and Smeagol is going on you could tell by the *body language* not just the words who was in control. Which didn't blow me away until afterwards.

Still on the field of CGI. Helm's Deep. It took me until today and reading stuff in the Buffistas (and logically looking back) to realize how much of that was CGI and how much didn't register as CGI at the time. I was so completely invested in that battle, so emotionally distraught by what was going on that I didn't really stop to think about what could possibly be real and what could possibly be fake.

Same thing with the Ents. Okay, obviously the Ents were fake. However, I couldn't stop looking at the characters and the action, totally swept away. When they were smashing the Orcs and destroying Isengaurd my reaction was "YES! Kill 'em ALL! Die! DIE!" rather than admiring the technical aspects of things.

Compared to say---Star Wars Attack of the Clones where I couldn't stop looking at the CGI.

I've read some complaints about the way there are cuts from the battle at Helm's Deep to the Ents and other situations, but it was a relief for me. I have a hard time tracking battles, especially in the dark, and the cuts to scenes with more light and then back gave me a better chance to follow the action. My pulse was running high during the battle and then the scene would switch and I'd calm down a bit then back to the battle, so I think I caught more of the battle than I would have if Helm's Deep had been seen all together.

But that's just me.

I don't remember Faramir enough to have an opinion.

If I had to pick my one favorite scene in the movie...I loved the whole battle of the Helm. But my absolute favorite sequence is when Eomer and his men crest the hill behind Gandalf and they charge down the hill at the Orcs in that blinding light. I nearly cried at the beauty of it.
