Collected Thoughts

Christmas was low key. It wasn't hectic and it wasn't awkward without my SIL (Bro is seperated from her). Actually the only weird thing was trying not to say how thrilled I am they are getting a divorced. Not because my soon to be Ex SIL is the QUeen Bitch from Hell. She's not. But Bro is so much more damn happier and relaxed than when I've seen him these past oh....6 or so yrs. Plus he took home the chair he's always wanted but that she never wanted to take. Actually his SUV was crammmed full of stuff.

I only really got annoyed by Dad once. Well mildly irritated because he wasn't wearing his hearing aid. It's just a fact that everyone in his family loses their hearing as they get older. It happens, he should suck it up and wear it, at least during these things.

However I did feel that either I am much more mature or the meds are relaly working because although I was sleep deprived and a bit snappy when Dad made a remark about being surprised to hear XMas programming on NPR and I said "Why?" When he responded "because it's run by liberal Jews". I did NOT say "So why do you listen to it?" I just sat there in silence. Which is the mature thing to do.

Mostly it was nice to sit around and be our weird ass selves and, you know, it's sad to think that my SIL never was one of us. She was never a weird one. She didn't get us. Or she didn't allow herself to get us. She couldn't just sit in the living room and semi watch the James Bond marathon.

I don't think Mom and I would have gotten up and danced to Hank Williams like we did while Dad and Bro looked on in half amusement half disbelief. But it was fun and that's us and we (Bro and I) need people who will be okay that.
