I'm tired, I've had a long day. I went shopping. I only hit on mall but damn it's so frustrating. All those frilly femme-y peasanty clothes that look like they were cast offs from Stevie Nicks? I look hideous in them. Take a look at my picture (up for a limited time). Actually, my hair's a tad shorter because the last time I got it cut it was too long so I went back and this time it got cut too short.

So it's shorter, and still spiky and frankly ultra femmey peasanty fluted sleeves "we are as gods" prancing around isn't me. I'm not saying it's bad because some of the clothes are cute. Not some of the dresses I've seen, some of the dresses need to be burned. I think this season will be one women will look back on and go "holy shit what the hell was I thinking?" at least in some pictures.

Oh, and I saw a multi tiered, long, full lace skirt. You remember Madonna circa Like a Virgin. Some of you do, some of you don't. I do, I was in middle school, some of you might have been in high school or college or elementary school. But you know the look, with the fingerless lace gloves and ratted hair. That skirt.

JC Penney's is carrying it. Complete with leather belt. My hand to God. You can go buy it right now. I don't know how much because I was afraid to look. I hate to say it but JC Penney's looks like there was an explosion of rainbow colored sherbet, tropical island resort wear, Stevie Nicks, and the 80's. Actually, it's all the 80s. Those bright pastels, they aren't that far from the Neon colors. And the tropical look, well it's sort of a grown up surfer look. Damn.

The Like a Virgin skirt though, that's just WRONG. It's like John Travolta's white liesure suit coming back in style. No one should be seen in that again.

So, my shopping adventure took me all over. Everyone has the peasant look. Lane Bryant doesn't help me out much because it's out of my price range (I'm on a budget) OR the tops are too big. Oddly enough I'm back to what I weighed a few years ago but the weigh has redistrubated. Instead of being in my arms and chest it's in my hips and thighs. So, Lane Bryant tops end up loose and looking bad because I don't have enough chest to fill them out.

The GAP came to my rescue. Actually I found a demin skirt at Sears. The GAP had some basics but even they had shirts in pastel baby colors--which was also popular in the 80s, I remember hating them as well and remembering how powder blue, baby pink, and powder yellow were popular. And all I wanted was black, red, dark purple, dramatic colors. Hey! My inner goth wanted on then too!

Anyway I ended up ordering a pair of dark capri pants (it's an inner goth after all) and I bought 1 black v neck t shirt, I'm going to the other GAP to get a second one. And I got an olive green shirt from the guy's section. And I found a pair of shoes at Payless. A little trendier than I like, but hey they'll work w/the skirt, capris, and jeans.

My god, when did I become a fashion horse?

Anyway. Now all I have to do is look for cheap tshirts in dark colors.

I still need dressy clothes, but I just can't think about that now. Anyway, I've spent enough years of my life freaked about what people will think about how I'm dressed or act and I promised myself I wasn't going to worry about that now and I'm not. Which is why I cut my hair and why I'm coloring it and why I'm wearing what ever clothes I like.

At JC Penny's, you say? Hmmmm. Because that sort of skirt would fill a (small, admittedly) gap in my skirt collection.

It was in the JR's dept of JC Penney's or at least what I'm assuming was the Junior's dept. The Penney's here has everything crammed together where you can't find anything in an organized fashion.

Did I mention that it came with a leather belt? Because it did.
