I ALWAYS have this problem!! It's like some stores refuse to even carry reasonably priced, trendy, plus-sized clothing. It's a nightmare. And I feel like shopping because I've been watching What Not to Wear and want to implement some of the suggestions I've seen.

I went shopping with my twin a few months ago, and the store went from Liz Claiborn's rather stuffy, matronly sportswear (which fit me) to Tommy Girl stuff (which did not). NOTHING in between.

Shopping takes twice as long, because I have to go to several stores and pick through racks of crap to even get close to something decent--and then it's usually more expensive.

Oh, and skinny, snotty sales girls piss. me. off.

This wasn't even a skinny sales girl! This was a kinda chubby sales matron. All white hair and talking to her friend. Maybe she thought I was insulting her clothes but hey! look at me! I was wearing a graphic t shirt, denim skirt, and those trendy half atheltic shoes. I didn't look like I wore anything in the department.

I know Sears has plus size Jrs. But here they occasionally only have 1 rack, maybe 2. And most of it seems to be jeans. I've managed to find some really great tops.

Target just doesn't have any selection and their clothes fit weird on me. Lane Bryant is expensive and a lot of the time I just don't like the clothes.

We have a Ross, Marshall's, and TJ Maxx here. But Ross was so picked over, and Marshall's and TJ Maxx, if they have anything, generally only have dresses.

I've found that if Old Navy has button downs and shirts that aren't strech or knit an XXL or XL will fit. But I couldn't find anything on their sales rack and I didn't find anything worth me spending $24.

It sucks because I checked Torrid online and they have this great looking dress for $14...but they only have a 4X left.

I guess I'm going to have to start looking at Goodwill and consignment stores.

This should be motivation to lose weight.

if you're looking for jeans 14-16, I did find a GREAT pair of Ralph Lauren (the Kelly Jean, flair legs, low rise) that looks FANTASTIC in a size 14 (they run large). Good for hiding the waist (which I have too much off) and good for balancing out a top heavy figure. BUT they're $50 a pop.

good luck.

Thanks for the offer but my pants size is still firmly in the 16 pushing 18 size.

good luck, anyway. Pants are always the most difficult to find. I'm only in 14's in those jeans--the rest are still 16-18. The one thing I've done is find a good seamstress--because I DEFINITELY am too short for a size 14-18. I still have to have everything hemmed.
