I finally had a chance to sit down and watch the Lowdown and the premire all the way through, although I watched some of the Lowdown last night.

Christopher Judge is really funny. Maybe they can do an alternate universe thing where Teal'c isn't so stoic. He pounced on Micheal Shanks! Amanda Tapping was really funny as well. Too bad Sam doesn't get more of a chance to have a sense of humor "I want a boyfriend that doesn't die!" hee.

As for the episode itself I'll cut tag just in case Well I'm still not up on my Stargate history. I haven't watched much with Jonas and I ended up missing the syndicated showing because I was watching my tape. I like Jonas. He's got this kind of weird laid back attitude--like when Nirti (or however you spell it) was going to put him in her DNA machine he made some low key conversation/barb throwing. Also when Anubis had him he didn't get too cocky or frantic like Jack has a tendancy to do he just rather off handedly pointed out the reasons that he should gloat.

I've read some comments about the Star Wars-ness of the episdoe and yeah that was there. However, I've always seen Stargate as being just this side of camp. Occasionally they play it a little too close but usually they don't cross the line. However the premiere just had everything--classic vililan dialouge, the music. I watched Austin Powers the other day and so a lot of the "No, I expect them to die!" stuff was in my head. I have to think that the Stargate writers knew that they were writing basically cliched lines of villian dialouge.

I want Jonas back! Daniel's back and all that. yay. But Jonas! They should have at least given him a better way out. I know he left his planet under the label "Traitor" (but I'm not sure what he did) however, I think if I were Jonas I'd be looking for away to escape the insanity that was that planet. The stupid ambassador/counsellor dude should have had a shorter death.

And now Jonas is stuck with "our enemies won't discuss piece unless you are our representatives". They acted like...like bickering family members in a soap opera. "I know you are amassing funds to hostilly take over my business!" "No! I don't really have the money I've been syphoning it off from my sister's secret account." "You bastard!" *smack*

Really, if I were Jonas I think I might make up an excuse about why I need to stay longer..."I have a complex filing system that I need to explain to Daniel. It may take many many months. Really. You go and find someone else to mediate."

But I know Jonas is loyal to his home and his planet and wants to protect them from the Go'uald, etc. Still.

I had other things to say about the Lowdown but I forgot. Oh well. YAY Stargate!
