Now instead of bothering yourself by browsing in the stacks and looking for a book or other materials, they must go to the service desk and then ask for it.

That's INSANE. The biggest joy of the public library is the ability to wander unimpeded among all the books! What would be the point of not being able to wander?

I know! I think his justification is that it's the State Library and since 93% of the books are nonfiction and it doesn't get a lot of use we might as well chuck it and use the building for something else. Also I think he figured he could have generated a little money with the sale.

People come from all over the state to use the library and it is cool to look around and be in a different library than the a regular public library. I'm hoping there will be protests against this as well.
