I'm getting dance shoes for Christmas. I've got it narrowed down to two styles. I finally realized that nude is the best color (goes with more, makes the leg look longer).

So it's between: Wrap Sandal w/Stappy Vamp or Eliana. The Eliana vamp (that's the part that goes across the toe) because most vamps are either solid or strappy but not both and most of the women I know have shoes more along the lines of the first shoe. The style I like the best only comes in white.

Heh. If you notice there's a typo in the description for Eliana. I have to call them and ask about fit though. My feet are weird. And now I found this Sylvia. Of course the shoes I loved the most I can't get for a variety of reasons. They come in a specialized material just for competitions and they are closer to $200. So you know, no go there.

Right now I have practice shoes, black lace up. Which are good because I can wear them almost anywhere and not worry about messing up the suede soles. When I get my ballroom shoes I'll only wear them to dance class and to places where there is no danger of them getting wet. Which means not wearing them out on Wednesdays (there are always spills), but I can wear them to practice, the USABDA, Hispanc Association and other dances. Plus the showcase I'll be in this Spring. When I get back from Thanksgiving I have to decide what dance I want to do and start trying to find a song.

I'm all excited about going up and seeing Mom's family for Thanksgiving, spending a week there. Except for the "oh my god! no computer except to check email!" panic.

But then I remembered that the demographics of Mom's family are very different from Dad's family.

You see, with Dad's family I never hear "when are you going to meet someone/get married/have kids." No one says this because out of the 12 second and first cousins of marriagable age: 2 are married to their high school sweehearts, my brother is married (but recently seperated) and one is recently engaged. Of THOSE one cousin has kids.

There's a polite inquiry of "are you seeing anyone?" but it's usually along the lines of "how's your job going", not a pressure question just mild interest because usually the answer is "no".

Now on Mom's side of the family, I don't know the second cousins but of the first cousins. Including my brother and I.

7 out of 9 are married. I'm the only one never married, one is recently divorced, my brother is seperated but still legally married. Of those 7, six have kids.

So I'm not sure if I'm going to hear a lot of "Why aren't you married yet?" or "When are you going to meet someone?"

I hope I don't because I don't want to spend a week of fending off variations of "You're such a pretty girl, why aren't you married yet?"
Sounds: Johnny are you queer
