There's a community fandom_scruples that wants everyone who posts NC-17 fic without proper warnings or in a livejournal that's not friends locked to be scolded!

For being immoral. But not bad people.

I think the idea is to protect innocent under 18 readers from finding smut. Which I find stupid becuase I didn't have the internet when I was under 18 and I found plenty of smut to read.

This is what I posted, but since the comments are screened I know it won't end up on the journal.

Put me on the blacklist! even though I have nothing to be blacklisted for.

I'm thirty years old (just to give a reference)---I didn't have the internet when I was under 18. And I didn't need it to find smut, I did that on my own in the oldfashioned way. I read books, books that you can find in the horrible, horrible place called the LIBRARY.

Maybe you should go around and scold libraries that allow teenagers to check out books like Clan of the Cave Bears and Stephen King's IT. I know, you should insist that the librarians patrol the stacks to see who is reading Nancy Friday and Anais Nin. 'Cause I did that too.

And magazines. I read about how to make sex better in Redbook. My mom had it.

I read about incest and adultery and sex poems in--- the Bible!! Better keep that away from children as well.

So put me on yout blacklist because I'm wicked because I'm not a bad person but I do hate attempts at censorship and bullying.

I can't stay away from fandom_scruples it's like a trainwreck for me.

But then I did find the most recent post .

It says in part:

We're not attempting to harass anyone.

And then a few paragraphs down:
It has also come to our attention that a few of the writers mentioned are key organizing staff for Nimbus 2005 (which we won't link to) and we are calling for a boycott of that conference unless they make a reasonable attempt to keep their adult material away from underage readers. We don't think this is an unreasonable request.

Several fics found at FictionAlley we believe have crossed over the R rating (which many feel is inappropriate for a site that allows 13 year olds to register at) and we are currently in the process of compiling a letter of complaint to send to heidi8. Because she may not be aware of these fics, we have left her off the list for now.


Which sounds like harassment to me.

So I posted a comment during Angel on fandom_scruples saying that people want to know who is behind this.

By the time I got around to checking it again all the comments were gone. In fact there's no way to contact the "management" anymore.

Someone in #discourse (sorry forgot who) said that it's friendslocked and those who are friended can nominate people.

I assume that the black list is still going on, it's just going on behind closed doors now.

I've been watching the Firefly Dvds, sort of rationing them out. But not as much as I should, I haven't watched the special features though.

I've never watched the series in the right order, it was too much trouble jumping around on what I'd taped off tv and the quality wasn't great.

Watching everything unfold like it should is just amazing. So many things that seemed kind of odd now make sense. You can see Mal and Inara's relationship unfold, the little looks she gives him, the way they interact.

I watched Our Mrs Reynolds today, it originally aired third (I think) and it makes much more sense that way and Jaynestown as well, how the characters interact.

Watching the story arc unfold is amazing so many of the little things make more sense, the characters actions don't seem so hapazard. I find Inara much more interesting and sympathetic this time around.

Saying Fox is stupid is so redundant but...Fox is stupid!
