I have a lot of updates to make but... I'm really behind in b.org and lj. I don't think I'll ever ever catch up.

Had a crappy day Thursday and as a result I know have a cell phone. Virgin Mobile, pre paid all the way. I got handed a new project at work, I didn't write it down and promptly forgot about it (I'm going to call my voice mail and remind my self). More work is being sifted down to me and that's great! Also we get these flyers for training seminars and I was told that if I found one that I thought would be really helpful money could be found for me to, especially since I'm a temp and don't qualify for company training.

As a result of this I will be online less. I taped Lost, haven't even seen it yet.

I'm making another cut on my lj friends list.

I'm going to plant things. It's very exciting, this whole idea of gardening. Anything I've tried before has died, but I'm hoping this time will be different.

I went to the nursery and talked to a lady there. I want to plant herbs and maybe lettuces, and she took me around and explained things and kept pulling off bits of this and a leaf of that and saying "Here! Taste this! Doesn't it taste like..." I left with my hands smelling pungent and my mouth full of sweet, sharp, fresh, lemony, garlicy goodness.

Dad planted pansies and a new rosemary plant, the old one had finally died.

I'm going to plant lavendar and thyme near the rosemary and pansies. Then in boxes and these round tubs cilantro, parsley, sage, oregnao, and there was something else that I tasted that was lovely but I forgot the name.

Then in pots I'm going to get: a bay tree, chives, and marjoram.

Oh and feldsalat and maybe sorel and spinach.

Luckily there is lots of room to plant in the ground and move around containers to make sure everything gets the sunlight and drainage it needs.

I'm pretty sure Mom still has all the terracotta pots in her garage that have been there forever, unless she got rid of them during a cleaning phase.

I've wanted to try my hand at herbs for awhile now and lately I've been trying to cook more, and I hate buying those little bags of herbs. And on various Food TV shows (like 30 minute meals) they use things like fresh bay leaves and I can't find those anywhere except on the plant in the nursery.

If anyone with a green thumb has some hints or tips I'd love to hear them.
