Go no sleep last night even though I went to bed early. Am very tired.

forgot to write that I saw Horatio Hornblower. The first movie. I really enjoyed it. Way more than I thought I would since I was only watching this to satsify my sourcematerial curiosity.

And now I want to read the books. However, I want to know how they compare to the Master and Commander series. I still haven't finished the first book -- I keep getting confused over the nautical details. Is Horatio Hornblower easier to read? Would it in any way help me understand the ship stuff in M&C.

I wanted to know about the sadistic midshipmen with the skull tattoo -- do the books flesh out his character more? While I was watching him I wanted him to get beat down, and was rather disappointed when he turned into such a coward at the end. Really between that and Sharpe not beating down the sadistic general (no, he wasn't a general...the guy with the handle bar mustache and the massive fear of dogs and Irishmen) -- anyway he got off too light and should have been beat down. Instead he was left to cry in ther river like a coward.

So any opinions on HH the books.

So. I may be going out to dinner sometime soon on a not quite date. With a co worker's friend. Said friend came by and talked to co worker, I wandered off to the snack machine and when I came back I got put on the spot (co worker apologized) and asked if I would be interested in dinner. I didn't want to be rude and co worker has known him for a long time and so I said yes. It's dinner. Co worker has just informed me that this guy noticed my legs and liked them. This Guy is a librarian (part time right now) and has a car -- so that hits my: must have job, car, like to read requirement. But he's 20 yrs older than me and outside my +/- range for dating. But it's not a date. It's just a getting to know you dinner.

I finally schlepped my computer to Best Buy to have them look at it since I'm pissed at HP and they gave me an invalid account number to send it back and there's no way I'm going through their phone system to get it right. At Best Buy my computer worked like a dream. The best they could tell me was to make the discs to do a restore and restore it that way if it had problems. And if it was still having problems take it back to them and they'd send it off to be reimaged.
