I've been slacking in my journal.
First off--go NOW, download Schism Vrya's latest vid about Spike and Going Under by
wolfling available here, it's a Wes/Angel vid.
Why must you watch them?
Schism (song by Tool) is about Spike's split personalities. I keep trying to figure out exactly what to say and I end up watching it again. The ending is amazing, just don't blink for that. The editing is great---so many lovely bits where the actions synch up with words/music (Spike breaking a bottle, Spike snapping Nikki's head to "blame", bodies falling), and the special effects. Vrya does great work with special effects (especially in Sleep Alone check that out too), she doesn't over indulge there's no sense of LOOK! LOOK! but they underscore what she's doing.
Going Under is the song by Evanescence and I will admit I was very, very foolish and didn't download this sooner because of the song (the two radio stations I listen to in the car play them all the time). However! I was wrong not to watch it sooner and blind not to see that Going Under's about Wes/Angel because after seeing Wolfling's vid the song so obviously is.
Going Under has a different feel from Schism, it's interesting to watch them back to back. Both are amazing. Obviously the song, Going Under, isn't fast, it's much more---not sure of the word I'm looking for but y'all have heard the song.
Wolfling uses longer clips and instead of goregous double images (fades...disolves...what do you call these?) not just for clip transition but creating these beautiful, often haunting images from various clips. I love the clip choices for "scream" at the beginning and the end and also the clip for "I won't be broken again."
Shoo! Go watch the vids!
