I gave up on the Superbowl.
Not because it was boring. Actually it was pretty interesting. But CBS has made it almost unwatchable.
You know all those neato commercials that debut during the Super Bowl? Well, I've seen a few. Mostly I've seen CBS pimp itself.
CBS thanking the viewers that are trapped watching CBS for making CBS the most watched network. I read on Zap2it.com that Ramano wants to end Raymond and I say THANK GOD!!!
I don't want to see CBS pimp itself or it's shows. Not every damn time it goes to commercial break. I want to see, oddly enough, commercials.
Now, on to commercials.
I counted 2 anti tabacco ads so which seem to fall under what CBS said it wouldn't air when denying PETA and Moveon.org. Of course those ads are paid for by Phillip Morris. So maybe if the Republicans had paid for an anti Bush ad and the Cattle Assoc paid for an anti meat ad CBS would have run it.
Also the Bud commercial with the ref getting yelled and not blinking and the announcers wondering why he can do that and they flip to his wife screaming at him. I'm not sure how that was supposed to be funny. If I was supposed to think it was funny becuase his wife yelled at him all the time or if I was supposed to think it was clever on some other level but--it's the 21st century. Let's move on from that type of imagery. 'kay?
And then there's the ads where the poor kids who were targeted by the RIAA have to sit there and shill for Apple and Pepsi.
This didn't have the intended result of me running out to go buy Pepsi and get legit free music. Instead I wanted to go download more music without paying for it because that's a horrid thing to do to those kids.
Plus it made me hate Pepsi more.

Re:
Maybe the kids really do want people to stop downloading. Maybe they were offered a nice sum of money. But it just seems like....I don't know. Not right.

It's not that complicated. The screaming coaches don't bother the ref because he gets it 10 times worse at home.
I watch the Super Bowl for the GAME, not the other bullshit. And it was a great game, though I was rooting for Carolina.
Re:
I wasn't sure if I was supposed to find it funny at face value or if there was some other humor in it. Because, really we should be passed using the harpy shrew wife stereotype for a cheap laugh.
