Collected Thoughts

I wasn't sure, at first, how I'd feel about tonight's Angel,with the Nazi's and all. But I really liked the episode. The crewman drawing the gun on Lawson to keep him from going after the dying crew. Then Lawson getting it together. Angel was great in the flashbacks. He was just there to do a job. He didn't give a damn.

And, in the present he's basically just there to do a job and he's quickly losing his ability to care.

Spike was not annoying. Or, well, he was but only in the way he was supposed to.

Lawson was great. I really liked the actor. When he was dying and telling Angel he knew how to fix the boat and also when he had his line about how vampires didn't answer his question, it was overplayed. And his whole time in the future talking to Angel. Just broke my heart. Angel took a man with principles and conviction and broke that, in a way that was even more devestating than anything he did as Angelus, I think.

The parallels between Lawson and Connor were nicely drawn, Lawson's last plea for a mission just ripped at me. Reminded me of a quieter, more controlled version of Connor's desperation.

Once again having a purpose was brought up. Doing more than just following orders. I keep wondering how much longer before everything comes crashing down on Angel and ruins his life. I'm officially spoiling myself but then I start forgetting what I've read if the episodes are too far into the future.

Gunn forgetting that bit was interesting. Maybe he needs a memory boost?

It will be nice to have next week's episode after this one and last week's.
