Collected Thoughts

There's a situation with my phone bill so I have no phone. Tomorrow I try and talk to someone about this.

Saw Alien Vs Predator tonight, I actually meant to see Bourne Supremcy but I got the time confused so I got there after Bourne had started.

I enjoyed the HELL out of AVP, I plan to see it again and I hope the dvd has cool extray stuff. I'll attempt a cut tag...



As soon as the movie started I didn't give a damn about the characters, I didn't want to see a plot all I wanted was to see the alien and the predator fight. FIGHT!FIGHT! However, I kind of got into the characters by the time things started falling apart for them. I didn't really care for Sebastian the archeologist, but I did like the chemical engineer British guy, especailly the way he was more together than the roughneck who freaked out. Plus Chemical british Guy tried to save himself, not that it would have done him any good. I totally cheered when Weyland's assistant bought it.

However I was highly disappointed in the actual predator v alien fight. Everything was dark, moved quickly, and was close up. I got confused about what was going on. Hopefully soon film makers will realize that not going into close ups during most of a fight is a GOODTHING.


Plus I tried really hard not to nitpick but I couldn't help it. Some problems I had were -- shouldn't everyone be wearing more protective gear than they were?? Plus at the end with Lex just in her shirt sleeves, shouldn't she be close to death??? And when Sebastian was doing his quick translation about the history of the pyramid thing and said it just ends...who wrote it if it just ends and a whole civiliation is wiped out. The flashback to Earth's past with the Predator's reminded me of Stargate, with the translations and the pyramids and alien creatures.

Oh and NO ONE questions how a big ass tunnel to the pyramid is just created OVER NIGHT, with several buildings being destroyed in the process. Plus I lost track...did Lex or anyone actually use the weapons from the sarcophagus?

I have to admit I liked Lex and that she got to the end. As for the Predator I would have thought a) he would have known he had one of those things in him, b) he would have tried to kill himself, or c) the other Predators would have scanned his body to make sure that there were no aliens inside. And while the burst through the chest thing was cool it left me to wonder --- why didn't they check?? Unless they were going to flush his body out in space.




Hopefully the cut text worked. Instead of taping Lost I taped an hour of scifi (I'm just so used to only taping on scifi) but I watched the episode at _ej_'s so I only missed a little bit. I really like Lost.
