Beautiful Thing and Century Hotel. Kinda.
I keep meaning to update and then I distracted.
Century Hotel got here from Netflix! I got to see David Hewlett's ass and it is impressive. Also got to see him kiss a guy, so now I have a nice visual to go with the fanfic.
I only partially watched the movie. Being impatient and not in the mood for the kind of movie it was I fast forwarded through most of it just to get to his parts. I'll re watch it.
I was also anxious to get to the Wire S2 disc whatever. YAY The Wire I fucking love that show. It's starting to build steam. Except Dad stopped by and reminded me about dance so I ended up not finishing the episode.
Movie Rec! The movie is Beautiful Thing, it's British. A very sweet coming of age/teen romance movie. The story is about two boys in the housing projects. Jamie lives with his mum, she does love him but doesn't always show it. Ste lives next door with his dad and brother who beat him. Ste is more popular at school and Jamie looks kind of ... well..he looks like the kid who gets teased. Which he is.
Anyway, Ste and Jamie develop a friendship and fall in love, there are issues, then they get back together, and on Netflix there were comments about the ending being, a bit unrealistic, but it's a teenage love story and almost every straight teenage love story I've seen ends unrealistically. So it's not that bad.
The movie isn't explicit. You see Ste's ass twice, Saundra's (Jamie's mum) boobs. There is boykissing.
Over on b.org I was explaining that I don't get the woobie thing and don't have woobies. Except Ste is a total woobie. So I have to amend this to -- there are no adult male characters I see as woobies.
I'll update in more detail later.

amyth and I quote it all the time.
"Bubble and squeak, you've got to watch it like a hawk."
"It's Sandrer and I'm not 'appy!!!"
"Big and butch."

When Ste says "they made me ugly" my heart just breaks. Poor boy.
Sandra's a good mother, flawed like all mothers are, but she's there for Jamie, such an embarassing excuse she gave for him cutting of school.
It's very nice to see them dancing at the end, Ste comfortable enough to do that and the looks on their faces.
