Ready or not it's here! I think most people are not ready. There was an article (or editorial or something) in the paper about how there are some damaged houses that haven't been repaired because it's been too hard to get workers. Not because they are fixing damaged houses, but building new houses. New expensive houses that will probably fly apart.

There's a new "development" here near the water...which makes me want to cry everytime I think about. I almost threw up when I drove by and saw the trees cleared. I don't know what I'll do when the houses are built...maybe find another way around. Part of me is hoping that there is damage to that area, and really, just that area. It's stupid to build houses there.

Anyway, I don't have my emergency kit ready and I didn't take advantage of the tax free stuff here. But I have enough batteries, flashlights, and things like that. I just need to stock it with food. Not that I needed it last season, but you never know when the next Kate will come through here.

Oh honey, I so understand how you feel--the same thing happens to me when I drive by a farm I've known forever and there are yellow earthmovers plowing down the trees.

I hope you don't have dangerously bad weather to get through.

About a decade or so ago they were aggressively advertising this particular area and the small fishing towns around it as "The Forgotten Coast" to try and get some money. It worked too well! Everything is so expensive.
