A couple of things that will pull me right out of a SGA fic--

Rodney drinking Mountain Dew.


99.9% of stories where DADT is rescinded and Rodney and John (or even worse everyone on Atlantis) immediately celebrates by having sex. I usually hate the way the news is broken that it's rescinded.

I had to think about that one for a second. I'd have probably let it pass in fic without even noticing it (and may have before now), though you are indeed quite right.

I thought of it because I have a cousin who loves Mountain Dew and drinks it all the time, so I know what it's made of.

Actually, after SGA started Rodney's citrus allergy was mentioned I started looking at all the things that had citrus in it and might be a problem and lots of canned tomatoes and stuff have citric acid and I was wondering if he'd be allergic to that.
