Can anyone give me advice about my Nano?

This afternoon at lunch I played it, it was fully charged and i wasn't having any problems. I turned it off and stuck it in my pocket but I must have forgotten to lock it.

When I got off work (about 4 hours later) and went to turn it on it wouldn't. Dead. I got home and plugged it into the computer to charge and nothing.

It's off and iTunes doesn't recognize it.

This is a first gen Nano that I got last Christmas. Could the batter just up and die like that?

I've looked at doing the R fixes but they don't work. And I can't restore (or reinstall, which ever it is) because my iPod doesn't show up on iTunes.

It's just dead. So I'm thinking maybe it's the battery. I'm not sure.

Also -- what happened to the IRC chat? I tried to get in a few times but it wouldn't connect to any of the channels.

Have you tried charging it using the plug adapter? Sometimes that's worked for me with my 20 Gig will work when charging via computer won't.

I don't have a plug adapter, I've been meaning to get one but I haven't so far.

I found an store that's authorized for iPod service so I'm going to take it there this weekend.
