I end the weekend with 3 birdfeeders, Dad installed the last one while I was gone, I just need to put seed in it.

Today I saw a pair of Blue Jays, a pair of Cardinals and one (possibly two) chickadees.

I need to make something for lunch tomorrow, I'm probably going the easy pasta and sauce route. I barely ate anything today so when devoured some bread, cheetos, and left overs at about 4 pm. And I forgot to watch hockey on NBC!

I was looking through 3 cookbooks Mom gave me, I love old cookbooks & pamphlets, it's always interesting to look into how people cook. Two are Campbell's cookbooks and both are about convenience foods and I leared that Swanson used to make 3 Course Frozen Dinners, that had soup, meat, two vegetabels, and dessert, there was even a picture. The tray had five slots, with the soup next to the meat (at least in this one).

Maybe I'm missing some kind of cultural thing but there are 3 recipes for chilled beef broth drinks, one called a Beef Fizz which is condensed beef broth and club soda.

Has anyone heard of something like that? The other two recipes are beef broth served over ice, one diluted with water and shaken "Frisky Sour" the other just Soup on the Rocks.

Yay, birdfeeders! Yay, hockey! The SO & I have been going nuts listening to the XM feeds (that was our compromise for giving up Center Ice, that we'd have the radio to listen to). We listened to three games on the road between Wichita and Amarillo yesterday.

I don't know about the beef broth drinks. The club soda one sounds just awful.

Whoever came up with beef fizz must be related to Sandra Lee, it's about her level of awfulness.

Have you heard the news that NHL may offer Center Ice as a broadband package? http://www.broadcastnewsroom.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=108422

I really hope this will come about.

!

No, I hadn't heard, but that's totally great news. That would rock. That was one of the reasons we put the kibosh on the Center Ice this year was because we travel so much that it hardly seemed worth it to buy a package that would just play its games to our empty house. But with broadband, we could get it everywhere!

Very exciting. Thanks for the info. I forwarded the article to the SO.

I still haven't put feed in the side yard feeder, but when I came home the backyard had a Rufus Sided Towhee, cardinals, a squirrel at the bottom, a chickadee, and I think I saw a wren (I've got a wren nesting at my house).

Hee! Yay. We had a ton of those towhees at the New Mexico house. They're one of the more fun birds to watch. I miss cardinals; we don't really get those here. My neighbor is a birdwatcher. She's got a ton of feeders hung, so we have the birds, but I haven't taken the time to start to log what I see yet. Lots of doves, sparrows, that sort of thing.
