Mom came through her surgery fine, she wasn't groggy when they brought me up to see her, in fact she was fiestiy and chomping at the bit to go. I hung out in the waiting room and watched some Bourne Identity, they had wireless but it kicked in that you had to call a number to get an access code so I didn't, and instead watched more of the movie. After we left Mom wanted to eat so we went to the deli place across from the hospital and she ate, I had cheap food in the cafeteria.
Everything was done by 8:30 so hey! I could have gone to work, except I'm exhausted and not really with it. I'm tired and want to take a nap, but I can't fall asleep for some reason. Mom's napping.
Last night I watched Amazing Race
I'm all caught up on Project Runway Canada and now I'm wishing there was a top chef Canada, I'm more interested in Top Chef because I like food better than fashion.
Seriously, y'all need to be watching it. Damian Lewis is fantastic as Charlie Crews, a police officer who was wrongly convicted of brutally murdering his partner and his partner's family. DNA evidence proves his innocence and he gets a settlement and a detective's badge and he's trying to prove who set him up.
That's the bare bones of the show. It's just an amazing show and Lewis is a great actor, you have his work to find who did this but also how he's dealing with life on the outside after being in jail for a decade. His partner is a woman, Dani Reese, who's complicated and complex and has her own issues with the force. She's played by Sarah Shahi. Also Robin Weigert (Calamity Jane in Deadwood) is in it. Plus Alan Arkin as Ted, Charlie's friend and housemate who was in jail for white colloar financial crimes and now handles Crews's money.
It's a great show strongly driven by the story arc. A reviewer said it's as good as Homicide, and I think that's probably going over a bit, but it's by far the best police procedural on network television (imo).
Also it's a fantastic show to watch in HD. On a shallow note, you can really see DL's eyes, and the way they crinkle up in the corner as he smiles, but also the show does an amazing job with cinematogrophy and lighting. There are all kinds of great scenes with Charlie in the natural light. It's a show that looks more real and natural because of the HD. The way Pushing Daisies looks even more supersaturated with color and even more like an over the top fairy tale, children's book.

I was so ready for Jen and Nate to lose, if only the flights had been closer together then their mistake about not taking legal transport would have cost them. They are horrible and Jen gave up so easy and flipped when the cab wouldn't take her, maybe it was more than one cab, but I have a feeling it was more her attitude. The Goths are still my favorite, followed by the hippie couple. Grandson and Grandad are towards the bottom because Grandson can be so rude. I'm torn about Christina and her Dad because I like her but not him.
There hasn't been a non elim leg and there are supposed to be two, I guess they decided to save those towards the end of the race when it can be more stressful. Although I hope it doesn't led to a situation where one team is clearly out no matter what.

I was underwhelmed by Mortal Coil, because the storyline was done on Sg1, and I kept thinking about that. Plus I knew that the duplicates would die and so that wasn't a big suspense. I was so thrilled with Miller's Crossing (there were issues, but it was over all really good) and this one was just meh. Although Jewel did a good job as replicatorKeller. I'm sad to see Weir go and it's frustrating that one of her best episodes was this. I keep hoping that we see her again. The end with the replicator ships and the beeping and McKay after the screen went black was kinda cute. But I'm not "omigod! What happens next! I can't wait!" I'm more. And yeah it will be back in Jan.
I can't believe that there's no more Life until after the strike. These last two episodes were so fantastic. Although maybe people will find the show and it will be stronger after the strike.Seriously, y'all need to be watching it.
