I went to this thing last night, at the art park (art district) here where the galleries stayed open late and studios opened up. I wandered around and bought two things. I a cool painting of an exploding robot and a pin.

After I left I went over to Mom's and showed her the stuff.

This morning I realized I can't find my purse. I thought I brought it in with me last night but it was late and I was exhausted. All I can think of is I left my car unlocked at Mom's and someone took it (but left my ipod). I did get contact info for the person who was coordinating things for the event last night and left a message.

I've turned my house upside down, it's not in the car, not at Mom's and I'm totally freaked out. Not only was my wallet in there but also my work id, which will be $50 to replace. Also my debit card, credit card, my Best buy gift card from a return that I was hanging on to, I'd just decided to wait and use it to be Dr Who. A check book. Some block buster gift cards and I htink my calling card. And about $10 in cash. Plus it's one of my favorite purses and my favorite wallet.

I know I'm being stubborn, but I haven't called to report anything stolen because I'm so sure it's around here some place. I did check online and there hasn't been any activity on anything, I do know someone might be using it and it hasn't shown up.

I don't have the money to replace the driver's license, and the debit & credit cards (there's a fee for replacing lost/stolen cards). I'm not sure if I should call the police since I don't know what happened.

At least I don't carry much cash around.

The only good things are the Expoding Robot and the pin

I'm so sorry this happened to you on top of your lovely day. Have you walked around your neighborhood in case the person pitched your bag?

If there were checks involved, you better call the bank. You should also get a police report. Otherwise you can end up with bounced checks in your name and that's a crime. The credit card is easy enough to stop too. Is your debit card the kind that requires a PIN? If so, you're probably okay, but if not, call the bank. Put fraud alerts at all three credit bureaus. I know this is a huge amount of trouble, but potenial for bad things down the road is real.

I'm still hoping it's shoved under the couch or something.

I know I should have caleld the bank today but I was in such denial. I still am. I'm going to call them tomorrow and cancel everything. I have two checks I wrote so I have to figure out what will happen with those.

Today I've just felt so crappy because of this and pms. And I feel so foolish because I can't remember exactly when I last had my purse.

Nothing more frustrating. But, lost or stolen, you should report it. When I lost my wallet I was able to call the CC companies and get them to put a temporary stop on my card, so that if I found it they could just reactivate it. When I was sure it wasn't anywhere, I got them to cancel and re-issue, which didn't cost anything, and if your bank charges you for replacing a debit card, I suggest you change banks.

I had to report my debit card stolen previously (and then I found the damn thing, which is why I've been reluctant to do this) and I think there's a fee since this is my second time. Both my debit card and credit card have identity theft insurance that's automatic, plus they have information about identity theft, which is something I guess I have to worry about now.

Plus tomorrow I need to contact my job and let them know my id is gone missing. I just wish I could get back at least my driver's license.

It's terribly pissy, isn't it?

But check into the identity theft insurance, because it probably requires that you report a lost/stolen card as soon as you realise it's missing.
