I don't understand NBC's coverage of NHL. They advertised the big match up of Washington and Pittsburg (Ovechkin vs Crosby). Washington is in this division (Southeast) and what are they showing -- NY Rangers vs Chicago Blackhawks as regional coverage. How is that regional (not just NY Rangers being north of here but Chicago is West). The Caps vs Pens has Ovechkin and Crosby! Not to mention Pittsburg is in a pretty good play off spot.
I've got to figure out a way I can afford a full digital package and Center Ice and these commercials. Someone must be a sleep.
edit -- now they are showing the intermission stuff they JUST SHOWED just before the commercial break,

The Pens are looking super good, although tonight they were sloppy. (For the part I saw. I fell asleep after the first period.) They were marvelous when we got to see them live in Phoenix. Total rockstars, those young kids. And they're so fast. If they keep their heads together and stay together and healthy, I think they could be a really good team for a long time.
We didn't get Center Ice this year either, for cost reasons, and I've really missed it. I think it's a worthwhile purchase for us for the amount of enjoyment we get out of it. The only problem I have is that when I've bought it, I feel somehow obligated to watch, like, every game, so I waste a lot of time sitting in front of games I don't have to see. But I have a laptop now, so that's made it better; I could still get work done.
Anyway. Sorry for such a long comment, but I'm always happy to talk hockey.

The second and third period were the Pens and Caps. I'm not sure why the switch happened but it did. They kept updating the golf scores and I don't think it was a serious golf tournament.
The Pens are really exciting to watch, all that young talent. Both teams really. I have to admit on a personal level I favor Ovechkin more (something about his personality) but they are both fantastic hockey players with their own style.
Tampa lost against the Panthers yesterday. They had a lead and it fell apart, something about playing the kitty cats that does something to them. But they lost in OT so they still got the crucial point to put them 1st in the division and 3rd play off spot. Tied with Atlanta and 2 pts ahead of Carolina. Of course there's a lot of hockey until the playoffs, but a few months ago it was looking like Tampa would be barely squeaking in.
I keep forgetting that NHL has games shown online. Not a lot but the Kings game is on right now through Yahoo and the next is on the 20th.
I don't get a chance to talk hockey with many people IRL the guys I work with think it's strange and keep thinking hockey is mostly fighting. I keep pushing hockey players as the toughest athletes with the coolest trophy.

It's that time of the year when teams really start to shake out their playoff status. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
There have been quite a few games online, and the NHL does highlights of just about every game on youtube. It's nice to have the option, although every once in a while I can't get it to go fullscreen.
I know. And with the new improved actually calling the rules game (although it's slipped off some, and will more by playoff time), it's totally not about the fights! For me it's the skill and speed and strength and toughness. There's always something happening in hockey; in basketball only the last two minutes matter, and in football sometimes it's almost as bad. In baseball, nothing happens for most of the game! Hee.

I saw the highlights of the Pens game on Vs, sorry about the loss, it looks like it was a good game.

Yeah, it was a good game. The SO says that they needed to get beat so they could realize what they're doing wrong. They kept squeaking them out, and not realizing they needed to work.
