I'm going to try the South Beach diet again. Last time I made it through the Induction and then stopped. But this time I'm going to do it and be better planned, last time I tried to hard to stick to the meal plans exactly. There is no way I'm cooking something different every night.

This will actually be a big change because I'll have to get up earlier so I can eat. Currently I roll out of bed, take a shower, throw on some clothes and pray I'm not late.

There were pictures taken the other day at work and I saw them. It was an eye opening moment. It's not like I didn't know I was fat but seeing it. My fat ass and my fat stomach. UGH. Just UGH!

Good luck. I'm on a roll-your-own low-carb (but not no-carb) thing, and I'm down 20 pounds so far, with about another 50 pounds to go to get me back to where I was in my prime.

Keep things in the house that you can cheat on the diet with. Blue Bunny (I think they do business in Florida) make some absolutely amazing low-carb and no-added-sugar ice creams and frozen yoghurts.

We have Blue Bunny here, I'm hoping that Blue Bell has low carb ice cream...I love Blue Bell!

I'm South Beaching myself these days. It's pretty sane as diets go. Good luck! One thing that helps me, is making things like a pot of (south beach consistant) soup or several broiled chicken breasts ahead of time. Then if you have to work late or just don't feel like cooking you can pop a bowl of soup in the microwave or throw together some chicken salad.

Thanks for the advice. Last night I meant to cook up some chicken to have for my salad but I ended up using a little can of chicken.

I bought the book right after it was published and I know there have been some revisions but I haven't figured out what those are. I did find a recipe for white chili that was really good and Phase 1 friendly. I'm going to see if I can find it again and make and freeze it.

I've been South Beaching it for a while- I've been doing Phase 2 for a while and it's been good. I go off track every once in a while so the weight's coming off pretty slowly, but that's OK with me, because I actually feel like I can eat/live like this for the long haul. Induction was hard though- I keep thinking I should do another 2 weeks of induction but, yikes, no fruit, no grains! So if you can make it to Phase 2, I think it gets A LOT easier. Good luck!

The last time I tried I made it through phase 1 and got stuck in phase 2. Right now I'm hungry because I didn't pack a satsifying enough lunch. And this is about the time I usually have my yummy cookie.

yeah, lunches are the hardest. I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to pack for the day at work. I sometimes try to bribe myself with non-fat lattes in the afternoon. Problem is, that gets very very pricy...
