Tired. very very tired.

MY GOD!~!! My grandmother's house was dirty. Filthy dirty. Furniture hadn't been moved in 10 years -- cabinets hadn't been cleaned in forever. I don't think she saw most of this. Plus all the furniture.

The living/dinig area is 15'x21'. Well 15' at it's widest, she had AT LEAST 15 pieces of furniture.

Tired. Lost of cleaning. But omigod it looks so nice. Forgot to take after pictures of this, will get before painting. I couldn't get before pictures before we were cleaning because that would be mean. Not that Grandma E would know, but still it would feel mean.

Also -- not watching Lost because over at mom's and she's watching AI. She said she'd change it during the commercials but if she does that I'll try to wrestle the remote from her.

I've been reading a lot of Rodney and John fic. I kind of got sucked in. I watched some of Atlantis and then decided that it wasn't really something I was interested in.

Until the stories and now I want to watch the episodes and I'm pissed off (bad) that something is messing up my downloads, I think it was a partial download (of episode 3!) so I deleted it, reinstalled bit torrent and I'll see how it looks. Is season 1 available yet? pre order?

Watching the first two episodes again, I'm struck by -- well, the two kids that they meet - Teyla's people (I can't spell the name right yet) sound a little too modern Earthish. This bugged the first time I saw it, very small thing.

However, I totally forgot John and Rodney's interactions. Actually I remember Rodney wrong. I kept remembering him more like he was on SG1, instead of this. The whole freak out about the sheilds collapsing seems kind of --illogical on rewatch, no one could figure out that the Ancients would figure out a fail safe. Also I was thinking that this is where the Ancients came from, instead of going to..at least I thik I heard the hologram right.

I'm excited about seeing the rest, I'll watch the second season.

Another moment I loved was when Rodney is stressed and goes off about the hundreds of gate addresses and John says "720" without thinking. I thought the mathy stuff for John was fanon (obviously I wasn't paying attention to what little Atlantis I did watch). I love Rodney's reaction, he processes for a second and keeps on going.

For some reason I feel unproductive. Which isn't true. I think because I didn't get home until after 8:30 and didn't get anymore packing done.

What I did today (mostly at work) was:
Call and make arrangements for the cable to be turned on
Call back and make arrangements for the internet (I was debating about dsl)
call and make arrangements to get the phone switched over (there's a $50 transfer fee to keep my number -- bastards!)
Go pick up my checks and pay my deposit for utilities. I owed money from when I moved out before -- plus I had to pay a larger deposit because I have an electric stove and gas water heater. all told it was $400.
Call and make arrangements for the carpet cleaner.

After work I:
Went to Joanne fabrics and bought mod podge for my suitcase table, two foam pads for the vanity stool, a dragonfly stamp, 2 things of paint, and 2 flower pots that were on sale and I totally didn't need. But three bucks!
Went over to Mom's
Went over to my place (!!!) and we took out nails, spackled, and determined that the ceilings need to be painted as well. And the previous paint job sucked. They used flat paint and didn't do enough coats so we could see some of the old paint through. And they painted the windows shut so I'm going to have to unstick those.
Also: watered flowers, got rid of cobwebs, discovered signs of rats, and swept off the steps. The rats are in the laundry/utility room -- Grandma stored dog food and bird seed there. I don't think I'll be doing that. Ick rats.

Then we had Chinese and I came home and chatted some and read some fic.

I still have to:
finish packing
finish painting furniture
go buy paint
paint
call my land lady about the storm door being jammed, and the gutters that need cleaning, the patch of ceiling in the kitchen where there might be a leak and something else. I forgot.

I got measurements of the rooms. Living/dining room is 15' feet wide (at the widest part), 21' feet long; the bedroom is 21' long and 13' wide. The closet is 5' long and 7'wide.

Now it's off to bed.

It took me a bit to figure out flickr and even then I made a mistake. Ohwell.

But I have pictures of the projects I'm working on. No pictures of the house yet, I should get some tomorrow or the next day. I'll defintly take pictures pre-painting.

I didn't have to show my landlady the colors I picked out -- and she found the screens, but they have to be painted to match the current color of the house and she's going to take care of that. I forgot to tell her about the gutters. But I'm going to have her over to meet her in person and also show her the new walls, etc. Mom found the laminate flooring left over from when she did her kitchen and she thinks there's enough to do my kitchen. So at some point I'm going to ask my landlady about that. How can she say no -- it's all free and it will make the house look better. Right now there is ancient, ugly vinyl. At least I'm assuming it's vinyl and not lino.

So, pictures.

Today wasn't as productive as it should be, but I did finally pick paint colors (yay!) and now I just have to run them buy my land lady. Mom said she was surprised they were almost all neutrals, but my landlady didn't want loud or dark colors, also I'm going to make the furniture and stuff colorful so I don't want things that compete. We'll just be painting the living area and the bedroom before I move. Sometime this fall I'll probably work on the kitchen and then the bathroom. All the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers have to be taken out and all the paint sanded off since they painted latex over oil. Plus there are built in shelves.

The bedroom is going to be a very soft bluey gray, I forget the name of the color. The living room is going to be Barrister white (which is off white), the bathroom will be lilac and the kitchen will be this really preety green that's called retro kitchen or something.

I also had to go to Wal Mart to get the paint I needed for the furniture, they have pots of craft paint -- 12 ozs (I think) that I couldn't find anywhere else. And even then they didn't have the colors I wanted so I maybe mixing some together. I didn't need enough paint to justify the cost of buying regular house paint.

Today I spray painted my vanity stool and the vanity, both metalic silver --although just the top of the vanity (it's going to be skirted). Then tomorrow we make the cushion for it and recover the seats of the dining room chairs. And go over to the new place and pull out nails and start patching the wall.

I took a bunch of stuff to goodwill today, my books are packed, almost all of my videos and dvds are packed. Now I need to pack all my decorative stuff and start putting my clothes aside.

Monday I'm arranging to have a carpet cleaner come out, Wednesday the lady who cleans for Grandma will come out one last time. The baseboards really need to be cleaned -- some of the furniture had been in the same place for the past 10 years and the baseboards were rather furry in those spots. We'll paint Wednesday and Thursday. Monday I'm also getting the utlities and cable switched over to my name (and get broad band over there) and make arrangements to have my phone line switched over on Friday. For some reason I have to pay $50 to keep my number. If I hadn't just gotten a new number last summer I wouldn't pay it, but I really don't want to have to learn a new phone number.

My pots and pans still haven't turned up, if they don't I'll just start rebuilding with teh basics.

This is really happening!! Squee!

There's a roach in the kitchen. It's ugly and horrid and I'm sure that my rather...relaxed attitude to dishes is responsible. I feel like I should go and scrub down the kitchen, but mostly I want to stay far away from that thing and hope it doesn't wander down the hall.

My new place won't have a dishwasher and will be small and older and less sealed up than this place. I'm going to have to be more vigilant.

Bad fic

Tonight would be most specialist of all nights when her beloved would declare his undying love and claim her as his own sweetest treasure. She was untouched by man and unschooled in the ways of carnal matters. The mere thought of the night’s education made her blush, tinging her skin the rosiest of pinks. As her peginior slid down her body she felt the first warm stirrings in her most secret womanly place. Tomorrow they would leave for the uncharted West. But tonight she would be his Manifest Destiny and he would push forward into her with his fleshy-headed cursader.

Over at Slacktivist blog he's had two interesting posts about Christian "persecution" and how Christians who think they are persecuted in America are nutjobs.

I should link to this or comment on it, but it's rather late and I never sit down and really say what I want. This is defintly a move to take back Christianity from the nut jobs.

Today I went to Michaels and saw Dragonfly Garden Lights which I didn't buy. Supposedly they were on "clearance" but I don't count knocking two dollars off as clearance.

Then I went to Marshalls where I saw several things that would be perfect but I didn't buy. Including a purple suede foot stool. I won't need one, I'm pretty sure the purple won't match the bed room and will be too much for the living room but -- purple! suede! (okay fake suede). If its there when I go back I may have to ponder it more and declare it a birthday present. I also saw a really great Wonder woman lunchboks (which I also passed up) and another one with --not Betty Paige --- I can see her face but the only name I'm coming up with is Jean Harlow and that is so wrong. I may have to go back and get those.

And FINALLY Netflix sent me a copy of Oz Season 1 disc 3 that works! YAY! The first one was scratched up so I only got to see the one episode, then the next one was cracked. I also watched some of the deleted scenes. Mostly I'm trying to get through S1 so I can get to S2.

I still have to finish Men With Guns, I may do that tomorrow, I'm really just fastforwarding through that anyway and Greenfingers.

Greenfingers has Clive Owen and Helen Mirren and I'm sure other people I'm not recognzing and is inspired by true events. Clive Owen plays a man in prision who is sent to this experimental prison (not OZ like) it's more like a college campus. Anyway he and a few other inmates end up gardening and Mirren plays some Queen of Gardening and has a daughter who falls for Clive's character. I'm almost to the end and I think I'll fastforward to that. It's mostly harmless and mostly fluff.

There are still fireflies around like crazy. I almost fell walking around in the dark.
