Collected Thoughts

Currently I'm off tv.I should be all excited because Stargate and Atlantis are back on and BSG has started. But I missed the premiere of BSG and downloaded it but haven't watched. And last night I had dinner with mom and hungout rather than watching anything --- I lost track of time and didn't have any blank tapes.

And right now I don't care. I'm happy watching Lost and the dvds that Netflix has been supplying me. However, I'm sure in a couple weeks I'll be hitting myself for not watching the shows and be downloading stuff so I can catch up. But right now, tv is not that interesting to me.

Except Lost.

I registered for Vividcon, now to hope my paypal goes through while there is still a slot.

Paying for the registration means I have to save money for the trip...I'm hoping my tax return will be enough to cover most of my costs to the b.org F2F. Now I have to work with getting roommates for both.

I'd really love to go to Connexions, but there is no way I can swing all three. There don't seem to be in cons in the fall...I need to start saving in the fall so next year I can make it to all three.

Damn, then there's the saving up to move out bit. I think it's time I looked into getting a credit card through my bank.

After trying to enjoy the Vividcon dvd set and Return of the King I've come to two conclusions:

1. I need a new dvd player. Mine is old and it wasn't very expensive when I got it. It only holds one disc and when the sales person tried to talk me into getting a multi disc player I thought "why?" A few laters I realize why. Also it won't play VCDs and doesn't like non commercial dvds so the vividcon dvds are hard to watch.

2. Dad's tv sucks. It's big, but old and there are buttons on the tv to adjust the picture and sound quality and I just can't get them right. Gandlaf ends up looking washed out and I can barely see the features on Minis Tirth when you first see it.

Anyone interested in being my netflix buddy?

I got the vids last night and have watched the first disc and some of the second. These are my quick impressions and a few tangents. I pulled out a notebook so I can watch them again and take some notes.

I Just Want to Take you Home -SV - Merry Lynne  I downloaded this and watched it, it looked nicer on the tv. I'm not much of a SV fan anymore but I found it amusing.

Valentine Heart - Angel - qwyneth  Wes and Lilah! I liked the song and I really liked a lot of the clips, I need to get the lyrics and then watch it again, But Wes with the axe kills me every time and I loved the clips of that.

Spooky- Sleepy Hollow - Mudd   I downloaded this one to see what it was like, I'd seen people's reactions from the con. There were one or two clip choices  I liked, but for the most part the clips went on a bit too long and there wasn't enough movement, everything seemed to static.

Can't Find My Way Home - SG1 - Barkley   I'm going to have to see this again. I know I liked it but the only thing I can remember is "oooh! Barkley"

What It's Really About - JoA- Seah and Margie  This is one I'd heard about but didn't download. I haven't seen enough of JoA for this to make a lot of sense, but it makes me want to see JoA right now!

Sing, Sing, Sing - Multifandom - Abby  I'm completely blanking on this one. My dvd player kept kind of skipping around so I'm just totally drawing a blank.

No Fear, No Hate, No Pain (No Broken Hearts) -Equilibrium-PR Zed  I downloaded this awhile back and I've heard about it. I don't know this source AT ALL but I like the vid. A lot. It makes me want to see the movie, although I hear it sucks.  But I still want to see it. There are reasons I really like it but I can't think of any way to write it up.

Serenity - Firefly - Luminosity This is another one I downloaded and watched. The first time or so I wasn't sure about the music, but that's just because I associate this and the other godsmack song with a particular time in my life. I love Firefly, the whole thing about Firefly and I like this vid.  There's lots of great motion and emtion in this.  Makes me want to crack open the dvds and watch them again.

Elevation QaF- Kitze Productions I downloaded this ages ago. I really liked it then an dI like it now, although I was watching in the living room worrying that someone would walk in during teh gay sex.

Blue on Black - Deadwood - Killa I HAVEN'T been able to download this and I wanted to see it sooo bad. I haven't seen Deadwood yet (it doesn't come out on dvd until Feb and I haven't been able to download large files) and I really wanted to see this. Now I wanted to see it even more. I love Westerns LOVE THEM. Firefly was a wonderful marriage of Western and Space, I was hooked immediately on watching Train Job, but I digress. In middle and high school I got really into the Old West and during different times in my life I'd go to the library and try and read everything thing they had.  For the first part of the vid I was mostly "nice to look at, not sure what is going on." then "OH!! Wild Bill ! oh. OH! Wow."  I really hope the series impresses me as much as the vid.

Invisible- Multifandom-Diana Williams  Totally didn't work for me.

The Mountain - LotR - Melina & Shalott - I downloaded this as soon as I could, but alas it was too much for my computer, however I could see most of it. This is just, unbelievable on the tv. There are not enough wonderful things to say about it. The colors are amazing, the clip choice for the lyircs works so well.

Confrontation - Farscape - Dianne & Lizbet - I'm not that familiar with Farscape so I ended up skipping this one, Farscape is on my netflix queue, but right now I don't know enough to really get vids.

Two Words - Angel - Sisabet - I hadn't seen this one due to computer issues. But sisabet!! and Angel! I'm amazed by this vid, there was so much going on in the song and the visuals matched really well. I need to look up lyrics so I don't have to concentrate on what exactly is being said but -- it's my big dead gay show and I love it!

Til the Day I Die SV - soappocrates - I'm really not a SV fan anymore (although I am writing SV porn..go figure) so I skipped this one. I haven't watched regularly since the beginning of S2.

Jig of Life - Witchblade - Shalott This is a vid I downloaded and tried to watch even though my computer wasn't having any of it. I thought it was great (I love this song) but I had trouble connecting some of the dots. Then when I was looking through lj posts and various things for links to vids (because all mine are on the other computer) I saw that the POV is the Witchblade and I felt like a fool. Of course it is! And seeing Jig of Life now well it's so pretty on the screen and the whole thing makes more sense.

Streets on Fire Robbery Homicide Division - Jo I  never watched the show so I got confused and skipped to the next vid.

Closer to Fine- Six Feet Under - Wolfling I have Six Feet Under on my netflix queue and this vid just enforces my desire to see the show.  I liked the vid, but the clip choices were too literal at some points.

Boys Keep Swinging SG1 - Kay, Kathy & Jill    Fun fun vid, kind of a blur because due to my dvd player the vids started at Closer to Fine so this is the second one I saw and it's kind of a blur. But fun!

Change  Fight Club Julette Torres  I hate Fight Club, so I didn't watch this.

Blue Skies for Everyone Dead Like Me - snoo and tzikeh I kept reading about this and couldn't find it online and was so frustrated! I just started watching Dead Like Me and it's cancelled!! Damn them!! But this vid  included things I hadn't seen yet and so I'm excited to see what happens next!  Um, is it still a recruiter vid if it reienforces new found love?

Rough Boys Multi - zeneyepirate I heard about this one but didn't see it anywhere. I could't tell you where most of the clips came from, and got excited when I recognized people-- this was fun and at the end I wanted to run ask for a list of the source (in order) so I can match shows/movies with the guys I wanted to see more of.

Now I have to go to bed.

There were sucky things about today. 1) I realized I'm probably screwed out of an ebay purchase. The person never sent me anything and is no longer a registered user, but I'm going through the steps to try and get my money back.

Alos my computer crapped out. My new one. the shiny new one. I thought it was Comcast and their stupid broadband, but no, I was told to call HP. The first HP person didn't offer anything helpful other than "run system recovery." I didn't back anything up because I was pissed off and not thinking straight, but that's okay because I hadn't downloaded that much. Mostly I wanted my money back, I was put on hold for a manager and got disconnected.

When I called back a lady helped me, she went through all kinds of things and now my computer is working right. However if I have this problem in a week I'm going to be back to angry and only wanting a refund.

She suggested something called Trend Micro that can run scans for viruses and suggested I use it along with SpySubtract and Norton. Just to be sure. So that's what I did and it looks like my computer is clean right now.

I haven't really watched TAR, I keep forgetting when it's on. PlusI hate Jonathan and watching him makes my head hurt. It would have made me so happy if he'd been kicked off for pushing Victoria. A lot of people commented on that and how he was just back on the show like nothing happened.

One of my guilty pleasures is MTV's Real World/Road Rules challenge, I don't really know who the people are but generally I like to watch (except this year when they seem to be taking some of Fear Factor's grosser ideas). MTV has a rule that a physical alteraction will get you kicked off. Hitting, shoving, etc and you are sent home. They sent someone home. Now, I haven't seen Jonathan's actions against Victoria so I don't know how the two situations compare, but the inicident that got the guy kicked off was fairly minor.

Two guys were upset at each other and arguing, one grabbed the others hand and the guy who was grabbed used an open hand to swat/shove the other guy's head to get him away. Automatic elimination.

No one fell down, it didn't look like anyone got really hurt, the guy who was shoved didn't want an elimintation but it didn't matter, those are the rules.

I wish TAR had rules like that they were willing to stick to, maybe I'd be actively trying to remember to watch TAR instead of cringing and wishing it were better.

I hate the weather right now. It's supposed to be 76F tomorrow. SEVENTY SIX! It's January for god's sake. Where is the cold weather? I hate this. Not only are my warmer weather clothes packed away but I've gained weight and most of the shirts are too tight now.

Also, I hate that weekends seem really short. I slept half the day today and then went to a birthday party for the other chunk. And I got caught up in a book. I'm reading The Danish Girl, which is inspired by the life of Lili Elbe, born Einar Wegener, who I think was the first transexual. A biography, Man into Woman, was written and I want to read that, it seems that the fictionalized account of Lili Elbe's life changed some important facts. The novel made Elbe's wife/companion into an American when she was really Danish.

This weekend I went to a shooting range, it was the first time I ever did anything like this, and it was kind of fun. It was a bit crowded so my coworker (who took me) and I ended up in the rifle area and couldn't shoot at handgun targets. We were shooting hand guns.

Also, the first disc of Cowboy Bebop came and I watched most of it. It's kind of interesting. I had heard, in different places, that Firefly was way too similiar to Cowboy Bebop. Also Outlaw Star, which I've added to my netflix queue. Other than both Cowboy Bebop and Firefly being in space and having an old ship I can't see any simliarites.

My bro rented Better Off Dead and Breakfast Club because his fiance had never seen them, we all ended up watching Better Off Dead, I hadn't seen it in a long time and both Mom and I were laughing our asses off. They wanted to get One Crazy Summer but Blockbuster didn't have it.

Then I went to a birthday celebration for my uncle who's in town from California, he's one of the people who has slightly discouraged me when I talk about moving to CA, my grandma, one aunt, and he always go on about how expensive it is to live in CA. he got me this great cd of world music for xmas. It's world lounge music and I really like it. The label puts out all kinds of world music compelations.

I had such plans for tonight -- come home after work, eat something, and work on the porn. Really test out my new speakers. Instead I spent time frustrated with Comcast trying to figure out why the hell I can't get a connection when I hook in through the wireless router. Dad comes up and wants to know why he can't get online.

The man isn't online at home all year and now it's urgent. He's got webmail, he can access this at work, although he doesn't seem to believe it. Anyway. I also have no idea what I'm going to wear tomorrow. I'm so fat right now and I don't really have any fat clothes.

Also today at work there was moving going on so it was pretty impossible to do anything...no faxes coming in, no printers hooked up, and stuffed piled on my desk because it wasn't getting moved. So I entertained myself by thinking about slash and fanfiction --

my thoughts went something like "Clark/Lex sex is easy -- they are total sluts!" (this would all be S1 Smallville since I didn't really watch anything after the first part of S2) Example : Clark goes over to Lex's. Lex is playing pool --toying with the pool cue, or a bottle of Tynat or whatever. Clark: omigod! LEx ur so hott!" Lex: preen! You know, for a teenager you look mature, but still oddly innocent. Wanna fuck? Clark: Do I! Lex: Great! Strip down and bend over. Clark: Keen!

For me Smallville is all about the pretty and the porn so I'm not too worried with their emotional state. I've started writing Spike/Xander several times but I can't go to the sex because I'm all caught up in Xander's vampire issues.

Also -- my new speakers ROCK! Seriously. And I'm having way too much fun playing with the settings .
