I watched the fifth dvd onf Sports Night. Sam's gone.

Damn I love this show and I'm looking at the last disc and I wanna put it in and watch but if I do then it's over, because I can't just watch one episode and then wait on the rest. I'll put it in and the next thing I'll know it's the last episode and my heart will be stomped on. I'm not exactly sure how the series ends and...

Also I've added a bunch more tv shows to my netflix queue and I realized that if I don't eat lunch out so often. or get snacks from the vending machine (and , okay, spent less on comics) I could actually BUY some of these dvd sets.

Monday I start working on a budget for myself. I won't implement it until the beginning of August though.

Then there are my comic books. This week I bought:

Wonder Woman
The Outsiders
Robin
Birds of Prey
Justice League Elite
Gotham Knights

I got Death in the Family, I need to sit down and read it more slowly, although the constant exposition at the end drove me nuts.

And, I finished The Intutionist for the book club and really really really want to talk to someone about it but I know I have to wait until it's time for the discussion to start.

If you live in Florida (or know someone who does) it's the thrid year they've done Tax Free week. It's to give people an across the board tax break and it's right before school for clothes, shoes, backpacks, things like that.

This year it includes BOOKS less than $50.

Graphic novels and trade paperbacks COUNT AS BOOKS.

Granted it's not a huge savings but still tax free!

Plus school supplies under $10. I'm not sure what counts as school supplies. I do know that some stores run sales in addition to the tax free thing.

Awhile back I got the Nigerian scam in the form of some American Died with all his kin and no next of kin so we searched and searched and your it! Of course the dead guy was Mr. so and so Allison. Which of course is my first name.

So today I get a variant of that scam with the heading Goog Day and God Bless you.

FROM:Dr Mrs CYNTHIA JAMES

Group Head, Finance Controller,

foreign exchange operation Department of InLand Bank.

I am Dr Mrs CYNTHIA JAMES

Group Head, Finance Controller foreign exchange operation Department of InLand Bank Nig Plc. I am writing following the impressive information about you through one of my friends who run a consultancy firm. He assured me of your capability and reliability. Although,

I did not tell him the details of the business I will want to do with you. In my department, we discovered an abandoned sum of US$32.5million(Thirty-Two million, five hundred thousand United States Dollars)

in an account that belong to one of our foreign customers who died along side with his entire family in November 1997 in a plane crash. Since we got the information about his death, we have been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his money because we cannot release it unlesssomebody applies for it as next of kin of relation to the deceased asindicated in our banking guide. Unfortunately, we leant that all his surposed next of kin or relations died along with him at the plane crash.

It therefore, upon discovery that some fficials and myself in the epartment

now decided to make business with you and release the money to you as next of kin or relation to the deceased for safe keeping and subsequent disbursement, since nobody is coming for it and we don't want thi money to go back into Federal Government account as unclaimed bill.

The banking law and guideline here stipulates that such money remained unclaimed after four years, the money will be transferred into banking treasury as unclaimed fund.

The request of a foreigner as next of kin in this business is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner and a Nigerian cannot stand as a next of kin to a foreigner.

We agreed that 40% that is negotiable of this money would be for you as foreign partner. There after my two colleagues and I will visit your country for the disbursement / investing our share according to the percentages indicated. Please be honest to me.

Therefore, to enable the immediate transfer of the fund to you as arranged, you

must apply first to the bank as next of kin to the deceased.Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by fax the text of th application with the name of the deceased and his country and other information about him.

After the fund have been approved, it will be transferred to an offshore security company in Europe where you will sign for the fund release order and for onward remittance into your account.

Note this transaction requires utmost confidentiality. And I am assuring you that it is 100% risk free so you need not be afraid.

expect a positive response from you soonest.

Best regards,

Dr Mrs CYNTHIA JAMES

Group Head Finance Controller

InLand Bank Nig Plc.

I need a little help from those of you who know more about the current events than I do.

The following was sent to my aunt who then forwarded it to my grandmother. I'm trying to figure out how much is accurate.

Subject: Mrs. John Kerry Mrs. John Kerry Not sure where this info came from but it is very interesting.

Following is a brief background on Mrs. John Kerry . She hates being called that, by the way: Maria Teresa Thiersten Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry. Married Senator Kerry in 1995. She only took his name eighteen months ago and she is an "interesting" paradox of conflicts. If you thought John Kerry was scary, he doesn't hold a candle to his wife! Maria Teresa Thiersten Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry was born in Mozambique, the daughter of a Portuguese physician, was educated in Switzerland and South Africa. Fluent in five languages, she was working as a United Nations interpreter in Geneva in the mid-60's when she met a "handsome" young American, H. John Heinz, III, who worked at a bank in Geneva. He told her his family was "in the food business." They were married in 1966 and returned to Pittsburgh where his family ran the giant H. J. Heinz food company. He was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1971, and in 1976 he was elected to the first of three terms in the United States Senate.

A Republican, he wrote a burning diatribe against some of the causes backed by young House member John Kerry.) Several years later, in 1991, he was killed when his plane collided with a Sun Oil Company helicopter over a Philadelphia suburb. The senator, his pilot and copilot, and both of Sun's helicopter pilots were killed. He was survived by his wife, Teresa, and their three young sons. Four years later, having inherited Heinz's $500 million fortune, she married Senator John Forbes Kerry, the liberal then-junior senator from Massachusetts.

She became a registered Democrat and the process of her radicalization was set in motion. Heinz-Kerry is not shy about telling people that she required Kerry to sign a prenuptial agreement before they were married. John Kerry may not have check writing privileges on the Heinz catsup and pickle fortune, but he is certainly a willing and uncomplaining beneficiary of it.

A lot of hard-earned money, made through many years of hawking catsup, mustard, and pickles has fallen into the hands of two people who despise successful entrepreneurship and who believe in the confiscatory redistribution of wealth.

So how does Mrs. Heinz Kerry spend John Heinz's money?

Just one example:

According to the G2 Bulletin, an online intelligence newsletter of WorldNetDaily, in the years between 1995-2001 she gave more than $4 million to an organization called the Tides Foundation.

And what does the Tides Foundation do with John Heinz's money?

They support numerous antiwar groups, including Ramsey Clark's International Action Center. Clark has offered to defend Saddam Hussein when he's tried. They support the Democratic Justice Fund, a joint venture of the Tides Foundation and billionaire hate-monger George Soros.

The Democratic Justice Fund seeks to ease restrictions on Muslim immigration from "terrorist" states. They support the Council for American-Islamic Relations, whose leaders are known to have close ties to the terrorist group, Hamas.

They support the National Lawyers Guild, organized as a communist front during the Cold War era. One of their attorneys, Lynne Stewart, has been arrested for helping a client, Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, communicate with terror cells in Egypt. He is the convicted mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

They support the "Barrio Warriors," a radical Hispanic group whose primary goal is to return all of Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas to Mexico. These are but a few of the radical groups that benefit, through the anonymity provided by the Tides Foundation, from the generosity of our would-be first lady, the wealthy widow of Republican senator John Heinz, and now the wife of the Democratic senator who aspires to be the 44th President of the United States.

Aiding and supporting our enemies is not good for America, regardless of your political views.

If voters will open their eyes, educate themselves and see the real Teresa Heinz Kerry, they will not appreciate her position as ultra rich fairy godmother of the radical left.

They will not want to imagine her laying her head on a pillow each night inches away from the President of the United States.

Hopefully they love this country enough to decide that the only way these two will ever be allowed into the White House is with an engraved invitation in hand.

Instead of deleting this, pass it on. Let everyone know these people are unfit to represent this great nation. The uninformed will never hear the truth from the press, who wants Kerry elected! Those who buy the Kerry facade, beware what you vote for - - - you may regret that you got it!

First, I hate Mom's computer table set up. I'm at her house because she's out of town and I'm cat sitting.

Also I realized that I forgot to get the current GA so I guess I'll have to go back to the store tomorrow. Oh. Darn.

So, I'll start with  IC#2 )

It's taking me too long to write basically nothing except--

Oh yeah, I think my scalp is sunburned.

I don't have a hiaku but I will through out one of my favorite poems.

The Sea Lullaby by Elinor Wylie

The old moon is tarnished
With smoke of the flood,
The dead leaves are varnished
With colour like blood,

A treacherous smiler
With teeth white as milk,
A savage beguiler
In sheathings of silk,

The sea creeps to pillage,
She leaps on her prey;
A child of the village
Was murdered today.

She came upto meet him
In a smoothgolden cloak,
She choked im and beat him
To death, for a joke.

Her bright locks were tangled,
She shouted for joy,
With one hand she strangled
A strong little boy.

Now in silence she lingers
Beside him all night
To wash her long fingers
In silvery light.

I'm back from the beach. It was good. It was bad. It was hot.  There were mistakes.

The big mistake was made by Grandma E and she gets a pass...one of my cousin's in laws were having a 4th thing and we were invited. But Grandma E was sure it was today. Except it was yesterday. And a bunch of people were supposed to come over afterwards. And of course they didn't.

Dad bought a bunch of food and sodas. Sandwich stuff, cookies, trail mix, cherries, grapes, watermelon, pretzels, etc. He never buys stuff like that. EVER. And it turned out only Grandma E, my aunt, and an uncle came over. But it was cool. We had tons of stuff left over so I have food for lunch. Of course Dad got weird about bringing the cookies and pretzels and stuff home --- he made a few comments that weren't directly at me, but I felt were kinda. I mean I know my dad and he's got a hang up about fat. I normally don't care but today my brain went to damn annoying places.

So, um, the good. Hung out with my cousin A. Read read read. I was reading Moby Dick,Middlemarch,Master and Commander. And a fluffly mystery. Basically I was rotating my way through the books. I've already read Middlemarch, but I wanted to read the last part again. Moby Dick has been interesting and pretty easy to follow since the idea seems to be that the reader knows nothing about whaling so Melville is going to explain things. Plus Melville (or at least the character) thinks that whaling is really really cool so there's an enthusaism about it.  I'm having more trouble with Master and Commander, because I know jack about the Royal Navy and ships and the way things work and so I get lost. Also sometimes it's hard to tell that time has passed or how much time. Maybe I'm not reading closely enough but a few times I've lost track of people's movements and have had to go back and track them down. But I like the characters so I keep reading.

Of course in both books I keep seeing subtext. I was trying not to but I gave up and just went with it. I'm sure there is Master and Commander fic out there because of the books and the movies. But I also want Moby Dick fanfic.

Also July 3 was in Comic book day. And I got NONE of the comic books I'd seen were going to be free. I think they did a Kid's pack and an adult pack. So I ended up with a book with The Shield, CSI, and 24. Frankly I have no desire to read about tv shows in comics (which is why I never read the Buffy comic), Dungeons and Dragons, some other thing, and The Ballad of Sleeping Beauty, which I like and I'm looking forward to the next issue. It's a Western retelling of Sleeping Beauty and the publisher is Beckett I think. I really liked it -- not just the story but the art work.

The truly bad was seeing Dad's reaction to a relative's car that had a John Kerry bumpersticker on it. He says "John Kerry" with such disgust.

And my aunt, uncle, Dad, great Aunt, and Grandma were talking about various things (and I should have left, but I ended up accidentally insulting my aunt) but someone ended up telling this story they heard about Howard Dean and I'm wondering if it's true or some urban legend thing. The story is supposed to be an example of how little Howard Dean knows the Bible and anything about God. Supposedly when questioned about religon or the Bible or something Dean said that Job was his favorite book in the New Testament because it tells the story of Jonah being swallowed by the whale and fighting his way free and this illustrates how man can over come anything.

And then Dad laughed and said that it would be even better if they could attribute this to Kerry.

Oh and I bought The Killing Joke. Which I also read several times this weekend.

Now I have to go and dig my backpack out of the car and go to bed.

I've started reading Wonder Woman. I felt the pull but resisted until I saw the cover of the current issue. And then I bought some back issues so I could know what is going on.

All of the comics I got on ebay are here. I discovered that I accidentally bough the first 4 issues of The Titans instead of Teen Titans. It's my own damn fault for not paying attention. I read them, I liked them and figured  that my chances of reading the full run would be slim.

Then I went to the comic book store today (my favorite) and the had back issues. A lot of them. So I bought some, more than I should since they are cover price. I'm still trying to see if I can find any on ebay but putting Titans in to search in comic books brings up Teen Titans as well.  I'm thinking I should have asked about any of these being in a graphic novel.

And of course now that I'm looking I FIND Titans auctins. Next time I hunt closer before I start paying full price.
