Collected Thoughts

Many of you probably already know about Will the Vampire People Please Leave the Lobby? but if you don't it's a neat book of essays subtitled "true adventures in internet geekdom" it's a book of essays about the internet and communities and fandom. It's funny and interesting and anyone who's found friends online and bonded over tv shows and movies and other fannish things should read this.

This weekend I watched -- Hockey! Tampa played on friday and, well, it was sad. Today Dad and I watched the Red Wings and Avs play on HD TV, he can enjoy hockey better and then next week the main game is something but Tampa plays and hopefully I'll be in the right region to see them.

I watched Ocean's 12, which was not as good as Ocean's 11...it dragged on too long and I wasn't interested in the love interest. There just wasn't enough of the spark that made the other movie, too much of the other stuff. Who cares about the love interests! Seriously.

Also finished up Season 1 of The Closer. Like the show very much, I really liked the bookend of the beginning of the season, but the situation reversed... ( Read more... )

Also watched more of Bones, current season, some of it I'd seen already but it makes more sense after watching the series in order. I just realized that I haven't watched this week's or last week's episodes of Supernatural -- and how wrong is that? But I don't think anything is going on tv tomorrow, so I'll watch it then.

There was cleaning involved and laundry but those things aren't interesting.

A couple of things that will pull me right out of a SGA fic--

Rodney drinking Mountain Dew.


99.9% of stories where DADT is rescinded and Rodney and John (or even worse everyone on Atlantis) immediately celebrates by having sex. I usually hate the way the news is broken that it's rescinded.

Also, when I was younger Bloody Mary would freak me out, even though I knew it couldnt' be true there was a small part of my brain that would scream "WHAT IF IT'S TRUE AND YOU DIE!!1!!!!" so I never would.

I don't think I could ever be young enough or stupid enough to think that someone is going to haunt me for not posting comments on youtube.

I'm watching the Closer and her cat's had kittens. So she gets them from the vet and these newborn kittens are wide eyed, mewing, fluffy, and walking around.

It's worse than the 6 mth old, perfectly clean newborn human babies.

Last night I was such a klutz. I went to take my meds and the bottle slipped out of my hand and fell directly into the cat's water bowl! I keep my pills on a bookcase next to the bathroom (rather than in the bathroom because of humidity and temperature issues) and Anna's food and water is right as well (I found if I put her water there she doesn't cry for water directly from the faucet).

So in went the pills and I immediately dropped to my knees and dumped the water out and fished out the pills and tried to dry them on a paper towel. Luckily I'm toward the end of bottle so there weren't too many but I'm not sure when I can get my refill. Anyway, I dried them all off and some didn't fall into the water so I took those. Once the pills dried I put them back into the bottle, all the coating had dissolved and the pills had cat hair and dirt from the carpet, nothing I want to ingest. I'm going to take the bottle to Walgreens, show them the pills, explain what happened and see if I can get some replacements or something.

Now I need to find a new place to keep my pills.

The other day a coworker was talking about something and male strippers and mimes both came up during the conversation and I started joking about mime strippers and trying to decide if a mime stripper would mime taking off his clothes or wear some sort of little bikini thing and do a mime act or mime a strip act and it hit me that this sounds like something from a Due South Crack fic.

So I'm making a few New Year's Resolutions.

1. Eat healthier -- that's pretty broad. I decided to not get ice cream today that I was planning on so that's an eating healthier victory.
1a. avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup

2. Take my meds as directed. This is mainly for the Seroquel which I kinda don't. Also the Met, which means eating breakfast.

3. Send feedback!

4. write every day, anything.

I think I should be able to keep most of those.
