Collected Thoughts

I should be in bed. Or getting more stuff together. I only have tomorrow!!!!! omigod!!!! My car isn't cleaned out. I have to clean out my car. And other stuff. Tonight though I was dealing with killer cramps. I'm thankful my cramps happened tonight and not, say, Thursday when I'm on the way to Atlanta.

But, I'm going to post one of my favorite poems, The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. I tried to memorize this when I was 8 or so. My grandmother had a set of books. Childcraft, and Volume 2 was more "grown up" poetry including this poem with wonderful illustrations --- Bess with her long black hair, the highwayman, the redcoat troops, Bess with the barrel beneath her breast. I thought this was just the most romantic poem ever!

I hate cooking in my kitchen. That's a recurring theme. It's just so damn hard to manauver. Plus there are all these little cracks for bits of food to fall into , down to the floor or behind the cabinets (since they are built in weird).

Also, I'm lazy. I admit that. It was a hell of a lot easier to cook when I could shove everything but three pans and my knife into the dishwasher. Now, I have to handwash everything, my sink's backign up again, I need to talk to my land lady about that, since it's been doing that since I moved in.Even when it was all shiny and polished on Saturday I didn't want to cook in it. Okay I did right up until I started cooking and remembered why I hate cooking int here

And I hate cooking meat. Seriously I hate the feel of raw meat. I always have but it's just been a minor irritation and now that's pushed the forefront. I can't do anything about anything else (except maybe the sink) but I can stop cooking meat at home.

Can anyone recommend a good beginners vegetarian cookbook? Not something that's chock ful of reasons why I should be one, but something that will help with meal planning and breaking out of the meat centric thinking?

Firefox is driving me crazy. I'm downloading vids like crazy, but the only ones that come out okay are the zipped ones. Either the little download box doesn't even list them (after they've finished downloading) or when it's done I can't open it becuase "the fime doesn't exist."

Otherwise I like Firefox.

Now I'm going back with Yahoo to download what I need.

I watched BSG 33 mins. I'm not sure what was up with the file because I could barely hear anything and had all my volume controls turned up all the way. The drums arent' that impressive when you can barely hear them.
(I've had no problems watching the vids from vividcon, just 33 mins). Yesterday I saw my tape of the miniseries so I need to dig that out and watch it.

Quick thoughts on 33 mins. The make up artists did a fantastic job making everyone looked worn out, tired, black and blue and worn down to the bone. Especially the pilots. Except for Boomer. She looked perky and fresh. And Helo down on Caprica (poor Helo), when he was in the rain he looked like a corpse. Like a wet dead thing, which is good. What's her name (the actress who plays Laura) is annoying me much less than when I first watched, it's her voice that gets to me. And it seems to be her "Acting" voice becuase when I saw her in the Lowdown thing she didn't have that... aspect of her voice that drives me batshit.

I watched the BSG vid Proud, if you go to vividcon you will find a link. It's an amazing vid and if you like BSG go see it. If, for some reason, you've never seen a vid and you like BSG really really go see it. It seriously rocks. It gave me chills and I've barely seen the show.

Love the President's assistant. I'm sure he has a name, but I forgot it. Anyway he's really good. Before Gaius and Six annoyed me, well, I think it's because Giaus kept dipping into watch from the hall behaviour which is always difficult for me to watch. But his "I repent" stuff was cool.

OH! Also, when you are over at vividcon looking for the link to Proud, check out the other vids that are there. If you are an SG1 fan barkley has terrific vids up -- Funny!!!!! Plus there's a Lord King Bad Vid on her site that shouldn't be missed. I also now want to see Sunshine of the Eternal Mind due to permetaform's vid. I know I downloaded other vids, but they aren't in the right folder, I'll have to hunt them down tomorrow. I had computer issues.

And thanks to shrift for picking up a dvd set for me!!!

This cracks me up, becuase "fuck" is part of a family joke. Back when my Other Mother's kids were in elementary school one scolded the other over the use of "doo doo". Saying "We don't say 'doo doo' we say 'poo poo.'" (or the other way around).

When Mom told us this story (we were in high school) my brother immediately shot back "We don't say doo doo, we say shit!" Which totally cracked Mom up.


Some how this morphed into "We don't say 'shit', we say 'FUCK!'"

I just sat down to finally watch disc 2 of Alias, ready to see how the episode 3 cliff hanger ends, and I opened the envelope and out fell half of the dvd. Cleanly broken in half, I know I didn't do that. The dvds go from the mailbox (attached to the house) on to the dvd player or tv.

So no Alias until they send the replacement. And now I'm slightly out of sorts and not sure what to watch now.

I went to the farmer's market aqnd ended up buying white acre peas. Then I realized I'm not sure how to cook them. Does any one have a no meat way to cook them?

I was driving home from work and suddenly was ear wormed for The Eye of the Tiger. Totally out of nowhere, I was happily listening to Gorlliaz and then BAM!! "It's the eye of the tiger! It's the blah of the Fight! Rising up to the challenge of our RIVAL!" THat's all I could remember.

Maybe because I was thinking about football, and at some point when I was but a wee lass, it seems that the football seasons had theme songs. Or maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but I just remember Eye oft he Tiger being forever linked to football.

So I started thinking -- omigod! This is about Angel ! As soon as I got home I checked the lyrics and acquired the song. the lyrics are way different than I thought. I want to do a cheesy vid, but I have no source, must change that.

Of course, now someone will probably tell me that a really brilliant vid has been made to Eye of the Tiger (I hope not though).

Totally first season --

I'm confused about the personal items rule. I thought it was 1 personal item only, but John has a copy of War and Peace, the tape of the football game, and I'm assuming the popcorn. So, I'm confused.
