Collected Thoughts

 I'm getting caught up on TV! I've now watched Eureka, Reaper, Criminal Minds, and Bones. oh and NCIS. I have Bionic Woman on my dvr, I also recorded Journeyman but decided against watching it. Of course SCI FI is rerunning both Journeyman and Bionic Woman so I can always catch it later.

On to my thoughts on shows -- Bones    

It's not just the return of Fall TV but also Hockey. My attentions were divided between Chuck, How I met your Mother, and the pre season Tampa v Detroit Game.

Our goaltender was doing well. Andre Roy got a goal, a fight, and he just needs an assist!  I'm not sure about the sweaters. Detroit looks fine, but Tampa's whites have a shirt tale  bottom or smething and it just doesn't look right. But Tampa is up 4-2! YAY!

I liked Chuck, although AB's hair was rather, unfortunate. HIMYM was really good. So it's been a good night.

Oh, that studying thing I'm supposed to be doing? I'm doing it. That's what commercial breaks are for!

Already this Fall TV season is looking packed and I add in the hockey,  I don't think I'm going to be able to record everything I want to watch becuase so much comes on at the same time! Alternative methods may be needed.

Damnit! LJ just delete everything I typed.

I have to find a new job. I don't have a choice, my health insurance premium is going up by over $100/mth starting next month. Thanks for the warning there guys.

I wish I could call them up and talk them out of this. Or that I was taking generic meds.

I'm going to call NAMI tomorrow and see if they have suggestions.

I'm looking at job listings but 99% of the listing I'm qualified for don't include a starting salary or even a salary range much less a list of benefits. Some do say benefits. How do I pick a job like that? Just send in a resume, hope for an interview and then while I'm there ask about money and benefits, or is that something you wait until a second interview? I don't know.

I should have known this was going to happen.  Well I was expecting it, but not this much.

The temp agency I'm with has insurance but it doesn't cover mental health, that's the first thing I checked. 

This just made my shitty day worse. I could really benefit from some national health care. And you know, I saw an argument the other day -- long waits for medical care! except the care isn't exactly snappy around here. I mean,  a lady who works at company I'm temping at has the same HMO as I do (only in a group plan) and has to have  shoulder surgery of some kind. She's had it looked at and they said it would be Jan at the earliest should could have surgery.

I'm so depressed I may not even stay awake for Eureka. I may just double up on my meds and go to sleep early.

I just ran across Maroon 5 doing an acoustic cover of Closer, the singer declares it the best song ever written. Anyway it's really cool. Odd but very cool.

I keep thinking that it would make a really awesome vid. But it's live and has crowd noise so I dont' think the recording to could be used, which is too bad because it would make a neat vid. I don't know what fandom, but I keep seeing a very stylized vid (maybe with some kind of repeating effect) to counter point the stripped down sound of the song.

I spent this weekend mainlining Smallville fic. I couldn't help it. I don't even know how it started. One minute I was fine and the next I had a dozen or so tabs open all SV fic. It must have been meteor rock possession. I haven't seen the show in a long time. Well I did see the one episode wiht Aquaman (he was hot). 

But anyway. The fic. Seriously I read almost every rec on PolyRecs and then everything of certain authors, and then spent my time trying to find that one story that I kind of remembered details about. Except it turned out that it's at least three different stories. One was excellent, one was ambitious and not that great on hard to read text, and the other I never found (but I have a feeling the quality is not great).

I think  I've got this all out of my system. Maybe.  God I hope.  Because I'm afraid I'll go home and start reading really bad SV fic.

I'm officially enrolled in class! Whoo! I start in two weeks and it's a health class that meets on Tuesdays, 7-9:45 pm.

If you use Firefox you might have problems with your Netflix queue. Yesterday I noticed that I couldn't delete anything off my queue, the Update Queue button remained grayed out. You can get around this by going to Account and scrolling down to the bottom and unchecking the Drag and Drop option.

It's a new feature but firefox doesn't like it for some reason. It works fine with IE, but IE kept crashing on me.

I was trying to clear out my queue by checking and seeing what Doctor Who dvds are available "Watch Now" and deleting those, but you have to open the link up in a new tab and then check. I could do that 3 times and then IE would crash and I hate IE.

The Watch Now is fairly useful. I watched Doctor Who The Aztecs, with William Hartnell. Barabara, Ian, and Susan are his Companions in that. It was kind of amusing to see BBC's version of Aztecs. I got frustrated at Barbara, because she had it in her head that if she could just convince this one guy that human sacrifice was "evil" then everyone would fall in place and it wouldn't be practiced anymore and then when Europeans came they would destroy the civilization. That was her reasoning, the Aztecs were destroyed because of the human sacrifice and nothing else. She was impersonating a god during this whole thing.

I kept thinking she was kind of useless and a bit whiny, but then Ian was being threatened and to get her way (and save her life) she grabbed one of the bad guys and held a knife to his throat to get the priest to say Ian wouldn't be killed.

And a Friday Night Lights vid about Tyra, to Cold as it Gets by Patty Griffin. I only watched the first episode of Friday Night Lights and decided that while I liked it, I wasn't going to add a fandom. Except now I want to know what this vid is about!
