I'm going to start posting links to vids as I find them. These are Club Vivid and Premiering vids.

This link is for the vids Boulevard of Broken Songs by [livejournal.com profile] destina and [livejournal.com profile] barkley The song is a mash up and the vid is multifandom, of Crichton, Mal, Dean, and Jack O'Neill, described as They are very hot men who walk alone. Feel the angsty man pain. Dance, angsty man pain people, dance!

and also Canadian Actor Bingo by [livejournal.com profile] elishavah, [livejournal.com profile] thepouncer, [livejournal.com profile] widget285, and [livejournal.com profile] barkley it's a vid of "hey! it's that guy/gal from that other show!" that we all play in fandom.

Plus there's the knife licking scene from HCL and if you haven't seen that before then you really need to go watch the vid! And then watch HCL!

Alias vid by [livejournal.com profile] millylicious, What You Waitin' For by Gwen Stefani, "the ups and downs of being Sidney Bristow Season 1 -5, so if you don't want to know spoilers, don't watch this.

Here's Cathian by [livejournal.com profile] klia , for the movie Flyboys, which I haven't seen and now I want to. The link goes to the vidders site which is password protected, but it has an auto response generator so you'll get a password quickly. While you are on the site check out the other vids.

Toxic LithiumDoll's Buffy vid (yes, by Britney Spears). Buffy and all her relationships.

Southwood Plantation Road is a Doctor Who vid, by [livejournal.com profile] harriet_spy

Edited to add -
Bicycle Race a Doctor Who vid -- all Doctors! It's a fun vid

I'm working on my Vid Spreadsheet (and watching vids since I'm not at VVC) and I'm watching vids that I either only watched once after I downloaded or didn't actually get around to watching. And several have my biggest pet peeve in vidding

Dialog over lyrics.

As soon as I hear that I close out the vid, make a notation for my spreadsheet, and never watch it again. I don't delete, because, well, I'm a bit anal about that and the idea behind my spreadsheet is when I run across a website I can check the spreadsheet and see if I have it already. Although once I've finished it maybe I'll delete the vids.

Back to the point.

Here are my two problems with talking over the lyrics:

1 - For the vast majority of vids this is the first time I'm ever hearing the song, so when there's talking over the lyrics, I can't hear the lyrics and I miss part of what the song is about.

2 - it's aesthetically displeasing to me, an audio clash

2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

questions from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] arliss

1.If you could pursue any career, regardless of schooling or background,
what would it be? What's your dream job?

I'd like to a own a bookshop, nothing fancy, just a used and new shop, with a store cat or maybe, maybe be different and have a store hamster. I'd have a section of vintage cookbooks, a YA/children's section, feminist books, stuff for liberal Christians (and pagans), steampunk, cyber punk, stuff like that. Maybe a computer set up so people can get acquainted with e publishers (not sure how that would work but it seems like a good idea). WiFi, comfy chairs, and decorated with fannish stuff (action figures, toys things like that), local art, a place to buy books or hang out and shoot the breeze and talk books (or movies/tv/etc).

2.You seem to like living in Florida. If you had the chance to live
anywhere else on earth, where do you think you'd like to live? Why?

Honestly I've been here mostly because I haven't had the guts to leave, but looking back I haven't been ready to fly the next. But it's a nice place to live. If I could live anywhere, I'd like to live a couple of different places -- San Francisco for one. I was only there briefly, but it just felt familiar and comfortable and I never felt weird or overwhelmed. And then some where in the UK, not London, that was rather overwhelming. Maybe a town about the same size as here, most of the places I went (when I was briefly there) had the same feeling of comfortableness and familiarity.

3.I know you've taken lessons in dancing. What's your favorite dance to
perform, and why?

The Hustle! Seriously, it's sooo much fun. It makes me smile. There are spins and turns and all kinds of neat moves and it's fast! It's easy (at least for me) to pick up new moves and you can take turns and various moves from West Coast Swing, Swing, merenege, and other dances and incorporate it into hustle. Plus the music is always fun.

4. You've become vegetarian in the last year or so. What's one of your
favorite vegetarian recipes? What do you miss?

Unfortunately I haven't found the One True Meal for Vegetarian, probably my favorite is the spinach lasagna, which I loved when I was an omni. I'm looking for the One True Veggie dish/meal. I miss bacon - BACON! yummy bacon. My OTM as an omni was country fried steak, fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, and sweet tea, oddly I don't really miss the country fried steak. Fried shrimp is the other thing.

5. You're a fangurl who gets to meet her favorite fannish object--who is
it? What do you talk about?

I'm going to be a bit of a fangirl cliche and say David Hewlitt. I'd just love to sit down and geek out with about Dr Who and other stuff, my reaction would be "BEES! omigodimadork!". But if I could stretch "fannish object" to include fictional characters, then Wes -- not last season Angel Wes when he was all broken, or 1st Season when he was still a dork, maybe late S2/early S3. Just because he has spicy brains and a yummy accent.

I officially registered for community college. I'll hear something from them in the next week or so. The deadline is August 1, cutting it a bit close.

Oh how things have changed, I can go online and look at the class schedule and see how many slots are available for the class. The class I want to take (a 1 hour class) says you need permission and is also work at your own pace. I looked at a couple of the other classes I have to retake (which being 3 hours are more expensive) and the times are weird. Plus the classes I was looking at as alternates are during the day only, a couple during lunch time. Which kinda sucks, since even though my supervisor and big boss would be entirely fine with me going to school, since I'm basically a receptionist there's no way to really make up the hours I would lose.

But it will all work out, I'm sure of it.

My long term goal is to be a librarian. The first part of that is to get my AA and transfer, probably to the local university, but who knows. Then get a degree in something, I guess Information Science, and then get a MLS. But the very first baby step to that, not even a step really, more of a baby practicing pulling up, is taking this Fall class.

I had a very weird Gilmore Girls dream. It was sort of set in the final season, but Rory called Luke "Dad" because when she was younger Loralei and Luke had gotten married and he'd raised her and Chris was in the picture. Although it wasn't stated like that, it was just the two of them Rory happily calling Luke "Dad" I sort of knew all that.

Anyway Rory and Luke were walking and ran into Lane who was there with her twins. Except instead of cradling two babies she was cradling these half dead plants -- some bright green leaves and some yellowing leaves. She turns to Luke and something about her babies with a blissful smile and Luke recoils "they're plants!" Rory looked horrified "We don't say that! They're twins!" Rory trying to protect her friend and then there was something where Rory said something about them going to school soon and walking away with Luke saying that's when "they" (meaning either Rory and Loralei or the town) were going to plant the "twins". Luke was just confused and trying to go with it.

Very odd dream.

I had a very nice birthday with shopping and good food. Got Dad 2 cds for Father's DAy and some plants plus we watched David Tennant Doctor Who... Dad likes him better than CE.

For my birthday Dad got me two really amazing dragonfly wall hangings that go perfectly with my living room.

And caterpillars. Yes you read right. He got me a "Happy Home" this mesh dome with platform thing, a fennel plant, a hoptree, and 4 caterpillars and an egg. Except the very largest of the caterpillars on the hoptree a Giant Swallowtail, at the leaf and the egg. At least I think it did. There was a tiny baby Giant Swallowtail caterpillar but I can't seem to find it.

On the fennel are Black Swallowtail caterpillars. Eventually they will crawl someplace and spin a cocoon and then emerge as butterflies.

It's like a cross between pets and a science experiment. I need to figure out where to plant the hoptree and hop it produces more leaves. And plant the fennel. But that will be put off until tomorrow evening when I'm home when it's cool. The problem might be finding enough light, my backyard is rather shady.

Mom actually got me two pretty glass vases to put the branches of fennel and hop tree, I was using plastic containers.

I've just started watching and I'm hooked.

Also, John Paul and Craig just met. Craig was in school and being harassed by Sonny. Except I'm a little confused about the school.

I don't like the girl whose married to bar owner. The main thing is JP and Craig just met!

I finished watching the Dolph movies I had out.

Silent Trigger started off strongly -- some weird dream sequence then Dolph lying on a bed in his boxers (yay!) and then there were flashbacks, and NO voiceover! Thank god, because that one voice over was so hideous. Then it flashed forward and got kinda stupid. Dolph's an assasian/sharpshooter with a spotter. Dolph decides not to shoot someone (in flashback) and the people he work with try to kill them. Flash forward and he's breaking into some half finished hotel and so is spotter chick (who is Jane from Coupling) and they are now working together again, for the same people.

There's a psycho guard who tries to rape the spotter chick, but Dolph beats him up but not to death. The spotter chick comes on to Dolph and they have sex and then spotter chick is lying there naked presumably asleep when Dolph just has pants on. Then there's other stupid stuff and they don't kill the target because Dolph hesitates again and then their owners try to kill them, except Dolph kills them and they both walk away.

Today it was The Defender, which was Dolph's directorial debut. This starts slow, but there's Dolph stripped to the waist and tortured and looking really good for 47 or 48 or how ever old he was in this. And then it flashes forward. Jerry Springer is President. Of the United States. Jerry Springer.

Anyway in the defender he works for some woman who I could never figure out what her role in government was but she was having some secret meeting and it turned out that there were decoys and almost everyone dies except Dolph. It comes out that there is a coup of sorts going on between high ranking Generals and Senators who don't want to have peace and President Springer's plan goes through and it's stopped.

This was kinda okay.

Also watched Rollerball. I ended up fast forwarding through some of it. I don't think I was in the right mind set for Rollerball. Also it doesn't really hold up well so I think it's better if I'd seen it sooner. There is commentary but the director, I may try to watch that.

Next up is Boondock Saints! That's tomorrow. What better way to spend Sunday right?

No matter where I go, well, anywhere remotely fannish I'm askye.

So I'll be adding and friending people over at greatest journal and journalfen and if there's a migration to some place else let me know.

Oh, also vox.

I think I've actually posted at vox.

LJ really needs to make a statement soon.

The one thing that gets people talking the most is bad service. It's true, people will tell total strangers about how they were screwed over by Company X and omigod! Do not do business with them they are a den of degenerate thieves.

Especially when it comes out that the people that Livejournal are putting so much stock in are racist, Dominist assholes. It took people what, maybe 20 minutes to figure out the connection? Couldn't have Lj done just a shred of research on who this group was before they jumped?
