Last night I went over to Dad's and watched hockey and ate more quail. The quail was so yummy. I also successfuly made gravy, but then we turned the burner to HIGH instead of OFF and it got burnt.

I really hope next season OLN gets their act together and improves their broadcast. I hate that the graphic for the scores is at the BOTTOM of the screen right over the ice! It gets in the way! I think maybe the camera work has improved just a tiny bit. And I hate the announcers. I like some color commentary but I also like to hear the plays called rather than mostly color commentary and ramblings about whatever with interuptions when something exciting happens on the ice. Blah blah blah -- he shots! that was a close one, Fluery made a good save there, speaking of which blah blah blah history the arena blah when I played hockey blah blah. They seemed biased to the Penguins.

The Penguins looked so overwhelmed, I felt bad for them. But their goalie, Marc Andre Fluery -- kicked as, he kept Detroit to 3 goals, and he faces more than 30 shots on goal.

During the second intermission they showed part of Jiri Fischer's press conference, it was so heart wrenching. I thought I was going to cry, then someone in [livejournal.com profile] hockey posted a link to the audio of the press conference and I did cry. He seems like such a good kid.

[livejournal.com profile] permetaform has a new SGA vid, it's beautiful and flowing and you should go see it -it's beautiful and fluid. And then if for some reason you haven't seen her others you should watch those.

[livejournal.com profile] astolat and [livejournal.com profile] speranza have made an SGA humor vid, Shark, for the SGA flashfic challenge -- very funny. Has nice LKBV elements. I think it might be spoilery through some of this season.

[livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett just posted a BSG vid -- More Human than Human-- about Cylons.

I also watched a couple of Firefly vids, but I can't remember who the vidder was, so that will wait until I get home.

Well, I finally saw a rant against John Sheppard. I don't agree with most of it and I don't know the person so I'm not going to post there.

I will say that I don't think John gets any pleasure from the extreme things he has to do. Like in The Eye/The Storm. He wasn't going to be able to rationally discuss anything with Kolya. Kolya was going to kill Rodney and Elizabeth (who were both aware he was going to kill them), and had basically declared war on Atlantis. Maybe the argument could have been made that John could have tied up the people and not killed anyone, but I don't think that was a good option.

As for putting up the shield and killing the Kolya's men that way -- John couldn't let any more people come through the gate. There were going to be --what 50?, 60?-- after that no one would have had a chance to take the city back.

It wasn't like when Angel locked Darla and Dru in the room full of lawyers.

And I haven't had a chance to see the latest episode yet, maybe tonight I'll have a chance. Last night I stayed late at work and then watched hockey. Tampa won!

Oh Great Cthulhu!

I have been an extremely diligent devotee this year.

When the stars were right, I made a burnt offering to the Dead Dreamer (100 points). Last week, I defiled the grave of that traitor, Lovecraft (90 points). In June, I called down the wrath of Yog-Sothoth upon [info]nostalgia_lj (65 points). In November, I burnt my copy of the Necronomicon (-75 points). In August, I prepared an ocean voyage to R'lyeh (200 points). In January, I stopped [info]sowilo from defiling Lovecraft's grave (-20 points).

In short, I have been very good (360 points) and deserve to be eaten first.

I hate the happy holidays livejournal thing, it's too distracting.

Today I felt horrible all day. I wanted to leave and was torn between wanting and money. My stomach was not friends with me today and I ended up throwing up at work and not eating anythign but crackers.

However, I made it through (mostly becuase my supervisor left and I couldn't get in touch with her to ask if I could leave). But, I got off work starving and went to the grocery store to get sick food (jello, crackers, ginger ale) and they had Clementines for $5/box and I also bought a couple of pieces of chicken which I scarfed down as soon as I got home.

In just a few I'm going to dad's to watch hockey!!!! Lightning v Blackhawks. Except Kahbibulin isn't starting which is very disappointing. But still, hockey! Then I will be home and see if anyone is on primenotprime.

You scored as Serenity (from Firefly). You like to live your own way and do not enjoy when anyone but a friend tries to tell you that you should do different. Now if only the Reavers would quit trying to skin you.

I finally got to take a good look at what I bought at the library sale. I just grabbed what I liked and then sorted them out later, but I didn't pay attention to some of the titles. I'm a little disappointed because I thought the cookbooks I got were a bit older than they really were, but it's okay. I did get an Encyclopedia of Cooking that's a 50s reprint of a book written in 1946 or so. It's hardcover and like a nice thick novel, I can't wait to read it! See, I have a thing for old cookbooks and the pamphlet cookbooks, they are so intersting and even though I never really make anything out of them I love just reading them. Well I love reading all cookbooks, right now I have about 7 vegetarian cookbooks from the library and mostly I've just read them like regular books, although I am typing up recipes I want to try.

One of the pamphlets I bought was Shortcut Cooking and it's got so many of those recipes that seem slightly questionable now with all the fat and calories and how tastes have changed, but I think some of them were questionable to begin with. But I've read some neat ideas. And I got a Betty Crocker Hostess Cookbook, with menus for Bridge parties and tea parties and things like that.

The crocheting is frustrating me still, although I think I've got a handle on it. She's hinted that she'd like a scarf, when we were at Jo Ann's she went on and on about the angora style yarn and several of the other types of yarn, how soft and pretty they were. So if I finish up my brother's scarf I may try to make her one. Although I need to get her xmas presents before she leaves for G'ma's. Either that or mail things to her closer to Xmas. She saw the practice scarf and she liked it the color better than I do, she thought Dad might like it, but it looks so plain, just gray. If I get around to making him scarf as well I'd get something closer to what I'm doing for my brother -- it's a heathered dark green. But I'd probably make Dad a blue one, he likes blue.

I know that there are still feminine sprays around, even though I haven't seen one of those Summer Eve "sometimes I don't feel fresh" commercials in a long time. So I haven't really thought about it, other than what a totally useless product it is.

However, someone spent a long time thinking about it and there is a whole line of products to keep you smelling and feeling fresh at your "sweet spot". It's called SweetSpot labs -- http://www.sweetspotlabs.com/?rm=products

I feel it's time to put a stake in the ground, declare a category, and tell an entire personal care industry that women deserve, want and need access to the right beauty and well-being product, for purpose Intimate Grooming™ for her heart of procreation-her sweet spot!

There are mists, washes, on the go wipettes, eau de spot which are little round wipettes, and something called Hormone Harmony, which looks like a set of the other stuff. There's lots of talk about "self-love rituals." I hear about aides to self love rituals and I think of something battery powered, not some over priced "wipette". Seriously those eau de Spot things are $22 for a package of 24.

Last night I finally figured out what I've been doing wrong at the end of the rows. I ended up searching for step by step crochet pictures and found a couple that were nicely labeled. I ended up ripping out everything and starting over (I'm still using my practice yarn). I've lost count how many times I've done that, but that's how I figured out what I was doing wrong with the foundation row and now my chain stitches are much tighter.

So my practice yarn is looking scarf-like and rows are even. I haven't made a gauge for the pattern but I'll do that tonight and see what adjustments I need to make and then get yarn this weekend. I'll hit Wal Mart and also the yarn store. I'm just going to do a single color, but I haven't found a verigated (is that spelled right?) yarn with colors that look right for my brother. I really hope he likes this scarf.

I'm pmsing. I've typed up several rants against neocons, Bush the Lesser, and so called Christians and deleted all of them. I'm all snarly and I want salt and sweet and god Ijust want my period to start so I can be over this feeling.

I just want to growl at every one and put up a big ass DO NOT DISTURB sign. But I'm the first face most people see and the first voice most hear so I've been acting nice and perky. Doesn't translate to feeling perky on the inside.

Yesterday I went to Jo Anns to look for yarn for my brother's scarf, I doublechecked the pattern I'm using and it calls for double knitting weight yarn. I couldn't find anything labelled like that, but I couldn't find four shades of the same yarn I'd be interested in using so it's just as well. I'm going to go to Michael's this weekend and also to the yarn store that I know is around here some place. But I don't have a lot of money so I can't buy really fancy stuff. I have to figure out what colors I want. Also I have to get a metal hook, I have several plastic ones but Mom said it would be easier with a metal hook.

And I was thinking about trying to make a candle or something but Jo Ann's didn't have any candle making things I could find. They had several aisles of scrapbooking stuff, a ton of scrapbooking stuff, I'm not sure how well it sells since there's a scrapbook store two doors down.

Didn't watch hockey last night after watching it monday. Tampa snapped the losing streak and then couldn't get a winning streak going. They play Thursday but I'm committed to something else.
