Went to the library yesterday and paid my $.30 fine and was able to renew Starsky and Hutch another time. Which is good because I need a tiny break from the show.

But while I was there I got sucked into checking out Cracker, but I did manage not to rent the season of Buffy they had or a season of TNG. I try really hard not to check out series because you only get a the dvds for 1 week and it's hard to watch 22 or so episodes in a week.

This weekend I went and returned an over due book but didn't have any cash so I couldn't pay my fine until yesterday. However, that day I ended up checking out Chicago and Cocoanuts. I watched Chicago and now I'm trying to decide if I want to watch the commentary. Cocoanuts will be the first Marx Brothers movie I've sat down and watched.

I also checked out more cookbooks. I'm frustrated by my choice in one, it was a slick looking book like a coffee table book and I should have known that it would be one of those with fancy recipes or ingredients. I didn't look at it until I got home and I read the introduction where the author talked about how the recipes are easy to make and not complicated with easy to find ingredients. But then he goes on to mention that he lives on an organic farm. So his idea of easy to get and mine are different. When I looked at the recipes many of them reflect the idea that it's easy to get a variety of organic and really fresh produce. I'll check it out though and see if any of the recipes are doable.

Still haven't finished Right as Rain, I keep getting distracted by that. It's good but I have't been in the mystery mood lately.

Also checked out several cds: Lifehouse, Sade, Moby, and two compliations -- Heartland: an Appalactian Anthology and Folk 'n' Hell New music from Scotland , which is "scottish traditional meets the modern age."

Several times in the past month Dad's talked about "a friend" that he's done things with. Now, "a friend" usually means a woman, and after the whole deal with his ex girlfriend I know that "a friend" actually means "some woman close to your age that I'm interested in."

He hasn't come out and said that, but he was talking about "a friend" and then said, "Well, you've met her she's X".

I have no idea if they are friends or if there's more, but I have met her and she is about my age. I keep wondering when "a friend" is going to mean "some woman who's about 5 yrs younger than you."

I'm not watching hockey tonight. I kind of want to but, I can't really waste the gas going to Dad's and Mom watches something on Monday.

Of course I've got about 8 games on my hard drive that I need to watch.

On the way home a restaurant I liked had "HOCKEY FOOTBALL BEER" advertised on it's marque. I think I'll call and see if they have hockey every night and treat myself to dinner out and hockey when I get paid.

The neighborhood is doing something for the trick or treaters, it looks all organized --- houses have tables set out front with people dressed up and kids going and picking out candy and maybe baked goods? I need to join the Neighborhood association and start going to meetings and things.

I've now seen almost all of disc 3 of starsky and hutch. The last thing I saw was the episode where Hutch's childhood (female) friend wants him to give her away during her wedding, but her boyfriend is just using her to steal stuff from the docks. I had flashes to The Wire during the scenes during the docks.

In the beginning of this episode everyone is at the church waiting for the priest and the groom to show up for the rehersal. The priest shows up and Hutch introduces himself and "my partner", the priest looks a little stunned until it's clarified that they are cops. The priest sees them for about 30 seconds and he thinks they are married.

They showed more of the personal lives of the two in this, we see Dobey at home with his wife and kids. The girl who played his daughter is just adorable. Hutch has this wierd thing about Starsky being left handed in this, I'm not sure why or where it came from. Starsky doesn't seem to know either, Hutch is all pissy in the beginning of the episode and Starsky wants to know if it was something from last night, but Hutch won't say and sort of goes the "if you don't know then I won't say" route. Those two have been partners for several years and just now Hutch has a problem with Starsky being left handed?

In another episode Hutch made Starsky dinner...with candles...aww. Maybe I only notice because I've seen all the episodes right in a row, but Hutch's place looks different every single time. The first time it's kind of sparse and looks like a studio, with the bed righ there when you open the door. Then there's a couch and a trunk for a coffee table, then it's a wagon wheel thing and there's a desk. And plants. Everytime it's more plants. In the most current episode I've seen Hutch's bed is no where to be seen and the kitchen is different. Before there was a wall separating the living area from the kitchen and the fridge is on that wall. Now there's no wall and the fridge is moved.

I don't think I'm actually supposed to be noticing that.

I had the yummiest lunch. Although I dirtied all the dishes I just washed and then some.

I tried the Broiled Mushrooms over Polenta again. This is the first time I've really gotten polenta right. It was so good -- I used a full teaspoon of salt and then added Italian seasoning to it, not a lot just a little. Plus yellow corn meal insteadof the white I used last time (which was all I had on hand). I still need more mushrooms, but this time instead of dicing them I quartered them and added thyme and marjarom in the mushrooms instead of on top. Plus there was cheese.

Then I tred Spinach and Black Eyed Peas. I used canned peas so they were kind of salty even though I rinsed them. I used frozen leaf spinach and had trouble getting it separated after I squeezed all the water out. Next time I'm goign to try it with frozen turnip greens. I added lots of pepper and a hit of red pepper flakes.

Yummy filling, and the kitchen was nice and warm from having 3 burners going and the broiler.

Next on today's agenda -- getting my car back from the shop. I needed new brake pads and rotors, but the pads weren't all the way worn out and it could have been worse.

Then there's FOOTBALL! And HOCKEY!! Only going to the football game as there is no hockey here. I need to pick up a blank tape so I can tape the game. I know my parents think I'm weird, espcially since I haven't labelled any of them yet. But in the hot summer months I'm going to want hockey. Also, I wasn't always watching the intermission stuff and I missed most of the guys being mic'd up. I love that they are doing that, both sunshine and Oln.

Mom watched some of it but she said she couldn't see any strategy. Actually I need to pay attention to the intermission because they break down goals and stuff. I tried to explain some stuff, especially why the Caps pulled their goalie. Since Tampa got an empty net goal she couldn't understand why anyone would do that. I tried to explain that with an extra man on the ice it's usually easier to keep the puck near the net and increases chances of a goal. But it's a risk.

Dr Phil is having a show about sex. With Kim Cattrall and her new book. He's giving sex advice. It's very watch from the hall. He was explaining to one woman how she could achieve an orgasm (she never has), he was talking about vibrators.

Plus he told a guy that trying to get his girlfriend to want to give him a blowjob when she finds it disgusting is like trying to baptize a cat.

I need to go find the brain bleach.

Boulton (the goon that elbowed Paul Ranger) got a six game suspension. He missed one game that counts towards that. The Thrashers have another player who had a 4 game suspension, but I don't know if he's served all of that or not.

Ranger is supposed to be back soon, originally they were saying he'd be out for a week but it might take longer. He does have a hairline fracture in his jaw.

tonight I'm watching hockey on OLN. I read in [livejournal.com profile] hockey that the coverage is getting better. The game is Florida v Pittsburgh. I hope the Pens win, and I haven't really had a chance to watch Crosby play.

Tomorrow Tampa's at New Jersey and Friday they play the Capitals. And then Saturday they play the Thrashers again, that should be interesting. It's homecoming for football and the game is at 3:30, but lots of sports!

In there somewhere Dad and I have to watch Farscape. If we don't watch it this weekend I'll have to tell him I'm sending it back and we'll just get the dvd from the library. I'm paying for 3 dvds a month and right now I've only got one in circulation. Mom has one that she lost, I've had the Farscape dvd for over a month now.
