I believe I'm about to see all my money go flying away in comic books again. Have to admit I got a wee bit obsessive about buying stuff and spent way too much money and had to cut myself off. Also I didn't want to buy all those comic books for War Games.

But I've been hanging out with people who read comic books (and work at a shop) and I was there today poking around. I read the new Spiderman comic book and of course I wanted to know how Civil War started. And Frontline ( I think that's the title). Oh, R says, those just came out, only on the second issue. So I go take a look, but of course Civil War is spanning many titles and hasn't just started. But I think I'll be buying some of the titles.

He was explaining why the X Men weren't involved in Civil War yet and of course I want to read all about this, he made it sound so interesting. And, of course, it's a series of trades. I need to figure out a realistic budget for comics and stick with it, otherwise all my money will go down the drain.

Also, last week I bought Outsiders and Astonishing X men, which I haven't had a chance to read yet.

I need to call and make a dental appointment. I saw another picture of me from my birthday and it was HIDEOUS! So very bad. Not only did I look pasty and fat and totally unflattering I had my HUGE mouth open grin.

A very unattractive smile--more details under the cut )

I bought two comic books yesterday. I was reading them regularly until Xmas and I had to give up my habit so I could spend on other things, then I never got back in the habit. I bought Astonishing X Men and Outsiders. The comic book guy (who I'm sort of becoming friends with) tried to direct me to other titles he thought were better. He doesn't like Astonishing because he isn't fond of Joss Whedon and feels that Joss "buffy-ied" the storyline, but I missed the particular issues he was talking about.

He recommended Justice, but also recommended I wait until the trade since it's about half way through the run. It was nice to hang out at the shop.

Today I'm going to go see V for Vendetta at the IMAX, hopefully it will be fun. There's really nothing else I'm dying to see. Well, Praire Home Companion but I was thinking of going and seeing that with Mom.

Work was icky this week but it's been icky in general. I'm just not happy with the job. I need more stimualation or something. I slack off because there's just not enough stuff to do, plus it doesn't look like I'll ever be made permenent.

My birthday celebration continues!!! Dad's other present got here -- a Phillips DVP642 dvd player! It plays EVERYTHING! Seriously! I just made a copy of two Wire episodes I had and yay! they play! a bit pixelated by tons better than trying to watch crap on my monitor.

VIDS! I can play VIDS! and finally a couple of those vid cds that I have to coax to work will work.

It looks like Tropical Storm Alberto won't be that much of a storm. At least not here. We are finally getting rain.

However I bought the wrong batteries for the alarm clock and there's no way I'm going out this late to try and find what I need. All I can hope is that there is no power outage tonight.

Carolina won! Wednesday will be Game 5 and possibly (hopefully) the last game of the Stanley Cup. Then no more hockey. Sigh. Originally I was rooting against Carolina, but now I want a Southern team to win.

YAY for the FDA! Boo to all those conservative groups who continue to act as HPV is the only STD out there. I really don't think there are a lot of teenage girls who are going to say "Finally! Now I can have sex!"

I don't even think that many people were aware of HPV before all of this.

I find the whole -- On noes! If we talk about sexually transmitted diseases and how to stop them then our children are going to run out and have sex! When the same adults are probably have tons of talks about the dangers of drugs, alochol and smoking.

Plus it's stupid that basic human biology isn't being taught out of some religous hysterical fear. I keep running into young women who don't know how their own bodies work and that's really scary.

I went to this thing last night, at the art park (art district) here where the galleries stayed open late and studios opened up. I wandered around and bought two things. I a cool painting of an exploding robot and a pin.

After I left I went over to Mom's and showed her the stuff.

This morning I realized I can't find my purse. I thought I brought it in with me last night but it was late and I was exhausted. All I can think of is I left my car unlocked at Mom's and someone took it (but left my ipod). I did get contact info for the person who was coordinating things for the event last night and left a message.

I've turned my house upside down, it's not in the car, not at Mom's and I'm totally freaked out. Not only was my wallet in there but also my work id, which will be $50 to replace. Also my debit card, credit card, my Best buy gift card from a return that I was hanging on to, I'd just decided to wait and use it to be Dr Who. A check book. Some block buster gift cards and I htink my calling card. And about $10 in cash. Plus it's one of my favorite purses and my favorite wallet.

I know I'm being stubborn, but I haven't called to report anything stolen because I'm so sure it's around here some place. I did check online and there hasn't been any activity on anything, I do know someone might be using it and it hasn't shown up.

I don't have the money to replace the driver's license, and the debit & credit cards (there's a fee for replacing lost/stolen cards). I'm not sure if I should call the police since I don't know what happened.

At least I don't carry much cash around.

The only good things are the Expoding Robot and the pin

Ready or not it's here! I think most people are not ready. There was an article (or editorial or something) in the paper about how there are some damaged houses that haven't been repaired because it's been too hard to get workers. Not because they are fixing damaged houses, but building new houses. New expensive houses that will probably fly apart.

There's a new "development" here near the water...which makes me want to cry everytime I think about. I almost threw up when I drove by and saw the trees cleared. I don't know what I'll do when the houses are built...maybe find another way around. Part of me is hoping that there is damage to that area, and really, just that area. It's stupid to build houses there.

Anyway, I don't have my emergency kit ready and I didn't take advantage of the tax free stuff here. But I have enough batteries, flashlights, and things like that. I just need to stock it with food. Not that I needed it last season, but you never know when the next Kate will come through here.

The icon isn't a great picture, but I'm thinking of something like that for my tattoo.
