I'm very sad my weekend is almost over. It's been very busy and there was very little goofing off time.

Yesterday was the noon game. I hate noon game's seriously fuck with your day. First I went and picked up the monitor. It's big! It's kinda ugly! It's mine. omigod! It's so much easier to be online. I don't have to keep adjusting the text size or over riding lj styles to read stuff!

The game was hot, we forgot sun block and dad spent most of the first quarter going to get baseball caps. My arms and back of my neck are burned but I've been heavily applying aloe. The game experience was much better than last time. NO assholes! We got there super early and there was guy who looked about my age sitting on the end, he had one arm in a sling and one of those canes with the four feet. He's home from Iraq, injured. His friend came down and they explained the situation their tickets were 20 rows up and he couldn't walk that far. Could he sit here? I said yes, I'd make sure he had a place. It all worked out okay. The guy was nice, and I ended up sitting behind him.

The game was....the defense was so flat. Wake kept running the same plays and the defense couldn't do anything.

After the game Dad took me home, I cleaned up a bit, went to get stuff for dinner and went to his place for hockey! rematch of the Bolts and Panthers but @ tampa. The goal tending was outstanding, there were some great saves. The puck was a little bouncy but not like it was. There were plenty of plenties called, most of it new stuff I guess the guys aren't used to. Kubina picked up one for flipping the puck over the glass, he did that Friday night as well. That's a rule change.

There was one sorta fight, Pratt got slammed against the boards, but the refs didn't call it, and then Prat and DiMiao (?) kinda went after the guy. Not a fight, more of a scrum. Finally Tampa scored! It was a sweet goal, right at the beginning of the period. Freddie Modin ended his time in the box, came out just as the puck went past one of the Panthers, he had a break away and faked Luongo by pulling his arm back for a slap shot, then stopping and getting the puck just under Luongo's arm.

They won! who!

Today I went over to Mom's and we Clean Sweep-ed her guest room. We didn't get to it all, but we took a bunch of stuff to Goodwill and we have some things that are too nice, but we aren't sure what we are going to do with them. She's got tons of gift bags, wrapping paper, ribbons, etc I told her she's not allowed to buy any until she uses that all up. But the closet was mostly cleaned out and now there's space for when we hit The Room (aka the junk room, you can barely open the door). Then we went to lunch and hit my place. Mom picked upa book case for me at a garage sale adn she was going to paint it before giving it to me, but because of the influx of books I really needed it. I actually ended up with a box of fantasy stuff I'm going to trade in or something. It's the DragonLance and Peirs Anthony books.

But I have another book shelf, almost full of books and my house looks more like home. Mom said I have too many books, I told her there is no such thing! I'm thinking of making that shelf all my unread books, it's right by the recliner and prefect for reading.

This weekend I'm also about to finish Starsky and Hutch Season 1 disc 1. I like the show! It's kind of, definitly of a different era. I've lost count of how many doors they've knocked down and bad guys they've started fights with. They just bust in and beat up the henchmen to get to the main guy.

And I went to the library. Mostly returned stuff, updated my voter's registation info. Got three dvs: SEx and chains (I think that's right), The Cuckoo, and a Veronica Lake movie.

Tampa lost. 0-2. And it was in the last minutes of the game, the second goal was on an empty net. The game was really exciting to watch, the Panther fans got upset when a not goal was called a not goal. The player put it in the net after the whistle blew. Well after. They still booed. The puck was bouncing all over the place too, it would stay down and it was hard to watch.

Sun Sports coverage is so much better than OLN, but then Sun Sports has been doing this for awhile. Also they used EA sports to explain the new rules, I think maybe EA sports might be doing that for other teams (or all of them...I'm not sure). It looked like the EA game, and it was a good explanation. Plus I finally understand what offsides tag out is. I coudln't for the life of me figure it out because I kept thinking the player had to tag another player, but he's just got to skate back over the line and then out and he's onsides.

Tomorrow @ noon is football, then 7:30 is Tampa v Panthers @ home. Can't wait to watch that. hopefully the assholes from last weekend will not be sitting behind us. Those tickets always rotate and I've never seen the same people there twice.

And @ 10 am tomorrow I go pick up a monitor that I claimed from Freecycle. All I know is that it's a couple years old and "big", which makes it better than mine.

I watched the first episode of Starsky & Hutch last night. I'd previously seen the movie and thought it was funny and wasn't sure why fans of the show were upset. Now I know.

Afte one episode I have to say OMIGOD!WTF! were the writers of the movie on CRACK? Seriously the movie has the same names, the same occupations, the same car and that's about it.

The writer did some kind of weird personality transplant. Movie!Starsky is like....a Jewish Benton Fraser. Seriously! Movie!Starsky's mother was a decorated police officer who's dead (I think in the line of duty). He's destroys property chasing down a purse snatcher, he's a bit naive when it comes to drugs (and women, I can't remember). And his clothes are...questionable. Seriously that sweater looks dorky. Movie!Starsky is dorky. The sweater works on Real!Starsky, because he's not dorky.

Movie!Hutch is a bad cop, or at least skirting the edge of bad cop.

The movie works realy hard at the humor. The tv show seems quirky. When S&H go to meet Huggy bear in the X Rated theater there's an old woman in one of the rows watching the movie avidly. You see her pour something out of a thermos and then later eat a tomato or something that she also salts. It's odd but amusing.

Plus the movie has them meeting and partnering up for the first time. In reality it's firmly established that they've been together a long time. Professionaly and personally. Okay, the tv show doesn't establish that directly, but it's there. It's not the UST we've just met of Smallville, but more the vibe that I get from House and Wilson. Actually there's a point where they (S&H) are talking about women and it felt like Wilson' being amused by House's date with Cameron.

After work I'll go home, eat some dinner, change into something comfy. Throw in a load of laundry then head over to Dad's to watch HOCKEY!!!!! I'll be flipping between the
Tampa game and whatever OLN is showing.

My fingers are crossed that the Bolts can pull it together to win.

Edited to add: I'll have less time than I thought, at 6:30 there will be the raising of the banner, 7 pre game show, 7:30 game. OLN is showing Rangers v Flyers starting at 7, I might be able to give up the pregame show for actual hockey.

Fingers still crossed about the goalie situation.

I went through the books last night, most of them are series, but the actual number of books doesn't represent the number of titles. You see, co worker's son and double sets of the three Dragon Lance series -- the old covers and newer covers. There are a few titles he has in triplicate. He also has almost a complete set of Wheel of Time, but there are 2 middle books missing.

And there are lots of Peirs Anthony, I don't really like him so I put those aside, unfortunatly I don't think I can get much in trade for them because of their condition.

But there are still plenty of neat books including Harry Turtledove ,and I've wanted to check his books out.

Last week a coworker found out I love sci fi (because I was talking about Serenity) and told me her son was getting rid of some of his books (they just had a second baby and are crunched for space) and she'd see if I could have the books. I was thinking a grocery bag or so.

Today she brought the books -- two paper boxes overflowing with books. Some that look almost new and if I don't like them I could easily trade them. I can't wait until I get home and can sort through them.

Serenity! Soon!

But I'm seriously worried that after all the hype and anticipation I'm going to be disappointed. I just hav to run home and change into my Blue Sun t shirt, pin on my browncoat ribbon and I'm ready to go.

Netflix hasn't been my friend lately. It took almost 5 days for me to get one dvd, then it took 6 days for them to process the two I sent back. THEN they sent me the dvds in the 4th and 5th slot. According to their FAQ sometimes dvds show up as NOW but aren't actually available now. I just don't think they had a huge rush on disc 1 of Starsky and Hutch, season 2 disc 1 of SG1, and disc three of MI5.

It's not that I don't want the dvds they sent, but it's stuff I've been watching with dad. Which means it will probably be next week before we can even watch 1 of them. Although with the way Netflix is shipping it will be Saturday before they get here.

I went back to the library today. I need to return some books, but I wanted to see if any of my ILL stuff was in and also to let them know that they still don't have my contact info right. Then I got sucked upstairs where they had the Banned Books Week display. They had a cool little display, with a black box with red xmas lights to make it glowing and caution tape around everything and a huge sign that said BANNED BOOKS! And something like Look at your own risk. But I don't remember. I picked up Uylsses, also on the table was one book, Grendel, I'd never heard off and a few others.

Then I picked up a few more books. My ILL stuff wasn't in, but I went ahead and logged onto my account there and renewed the dvds I have. Since I wasn't checking out any dvds I went ahead and used their self check out for books. It was really cool. You put your library card down, then the books, then it spits out a little receipt and off you go! Putting the books on the machine clears them so they won't set off the alarm.

Once I was downstairs I told them how cool it was and how much I liked it. Also, I asked about what they are doing for banned books week. They've been having local celebrity types read parts of banned books, but only around lunch time. Since I work so far away it's not feasible for me to take part in that. But for Bookfest in November, Ann Prachett will be doing two readings, both at night. Then on November 19 is the annual book sale.

I have tickets! We're going on Friday.

and because EVERYONE is doing it! (And it's cool!)

Well, quite a lot of fuss. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were dangerous. Mal Bushwhacked.
